Legal Counsel (reporting to the General Counsel / Member of the Executive Management Board)


Key Tasks and Responsibilities



  • Provide legal advice and guidance to front units, other internal stakeholders and senior management;

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of standard contracts and bespoke agreements from a legal perspective with a focus on credit transactions and security structures;

  • Advise on new projects and business initiatives;

  • Answer to regulatory, governmental and other enquiries;

  • Monitor and implement national and international legal and regulatory developments;

  • Collaborate with key and senior internal stakeholders, including members of the senior management, relationship managers and other units.


Required Experience / Skills / Qualification



  • Swiss / EU passport or valid Swiss work permit;

  • Master of Law (or lic. iur.) from a Swiss university and admission to the Swiss bar; additional degree (e.g. LL.M.) would be of value;

  • Min. 4 years of post-graduate legal experience in a Swiss bank or in a Swiss or international law firm with experience in banking related issues with a focus on corporate banking and credit matters;

  • Experience and interest in financial markets, new technologies (blockchain, DLT etc.) and regulatory affairs;

  • Strong analytical and practical approach to identifying, assessing and solving legal issues;

  • Sound experience in negotiating and drafting international contracts in English;

  • Good communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with a business sense to find solutions;

  • A fast learner with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;

  • Good MS Office knowledge (in particular MS Word);

  • Great sense of integrity, behaving consistently with expressed values and ethical principles;

  • Excellent command of English and German (verbally and in writing); Russian would be an asset.
