Job Description

Job Purpose

The Regional KOL & HCP Education Senior Manager will be responsible for identifying, mapping, segmenting, planning, engaging and interacting with KOLs in Region Europe.



The individual will implement an effective process and communication network including local, regional, International as well as Global stakeholders. This includes the usage and management of existing tools as well as developing new channels.



With that, they ensure Alcon is engaging with the right KOL, at the right time through the right initiative according to our portfolio and strategic priorities. In addition, the person will be the key resource for external and internal scientific communications and facilitating the understanding of complex scientific concepts across a broad audience with different levels of expertise.



Key Responsibilities Include

KOL Identification

• Identify the right KOLs to support the different parts of our portfolio

• Ensure KOL base is broad enough and goes beyond clinicians only by involving digital Experts, nurses and patient advocates as well

• Implement an active pipeline management policy to find emerging/rising stars



KOL Mapping

• Ensure public profiles of KOLs are available

• Create comprehensive profiles about each KOL and make them available with the relevant network in Alcon

• Understand KOLs' scientific mindset, beliefs and alignment with our scientific platform and messaging and how this relates to competitors

• Map KOLs best suited for different activities - speakers, advisors, guideline experts, HE/OR specialists, educators and trainers

• Identify the different clusters of KOLs who tend to collaborate and work together as well as those who avoid being engaged on the same project



KOL Segmentation

• Generate criteria which will be used to segment KOLs

• Use segmentation to create effective KOL Management and engagement plans for each segment



KOL Engagement Planning

• Generate engagement/touch-point plans for each KOL based on strategy, tactics, benchmarking, segmentation, influence, available internal resources, etc



KOL Engaging

• Builds, manages and develops the relationships with KOLs, is seen as the SPOC for KOL engagement activities at the regional level

• Provides KOL recommendations for advisory, speaker events or other medical/scientific or marketing events

• Manages KOL execution at big regional conferences

• Ensure KOLs are aware of Alcon messaging in alignment with Marketing and Medical Affairs

• Engage with KOL's to perform events & manage SOWs (scope of work contracts)



HCP Education and Training

• Work closely with International (IMG) to align on the needs and specific content for HCP training and educational events and courses

• Provide recommendations for speakers/trainers/consultants for development of training content as well as remote & live events

•Ensure KOL engagement is managed according to internal compliance rules

• In case of “live” and F2F events at the AEC in Barcelona/Geneva she/he is hosting the respective session and ensures an excellent customer experience



Best in class management of Congresses and scientific associations

• Ensure close collaboration with Medical Affairs and local HCP/KOL managers to ensure Alcon`s Share of Voice is maximized at all major regional congresses as well as within the key regional events by close interaction with local HCP/KOL managers

• Provide KOL recommendations for symposia, wet-labs, “Meet-the-Experts”, private views and other peer-to-peer activities of Alcon's promotional agenda at congresses

• Work closely with major scientific associations (ESCRS,RCO, DOG, SFO...) to understand engagement opportunities and ensure effective utilization of investments

•Maximize collaboration with regional Corporate Affairs Lead to drive agenda setting within regulatory and industry associations



Other Activities

• Trade Publications relationships & engagement to drive SOV

•Attend & support educational program, fellowships, conferences, exhibits, seminars & wet-labs as requested to secure KOL performance and evaluation

Minimum requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Scientific disciplines at minimum.



Languages:

• Fluency in English (oral & written) language. Other languages are highly appreciated.



Experience:

• At least five (5) years of experience in Ophthalmology (marketing/clinical/medical) required.

• It is essential to have medical device or surgical industry experience.

• Desirable experience in marketing as brand/product manager

• Proven experience in managing KOLs in congresses and events.

• High training and communication skills.

• Deep understanding of ophthalmic medical business, especially Alcon portfolio.

• Experience and ability to travel up to 50% of time to commercial sites in the region.
