The Development Economics Group (ETH-DEC) at ETH Zurich is offering a PostDoc position in Development Economics. Starting time is 01.02.2021 (or later). The position is for a period of one year, extendable to three years. 


Our research: We conduct research in applied development economics, with ongoing research projects on global inequalities, health and population economics, technologies for poverty reduction, sustainable resource extraction and consumption, development finance, and evidence-informed policy making.


Our team: We are an international team of highly motivated researchers interested in understanding the challenges and contributing to the solutions of global development. Our research group is closely linked to NADEL (www.nadel.ethz.ch), a multidisciplinary team with a focus on linking research with practice through collaboration and communication.

Job description


The position encourages and facilitates, first and foremost, the production of high-quality research. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising MAS theses and mentoring PhDs. Teaching is encouraged, but not mandatory.


Your profile


Candidates have a doctorate in economics, statistics or a related field, excellent prospects for publications, strong quantitative skills, and a demonstrated potential to attract research funding. Applicants should be fluent in English. Knowledge of German or French is helpful, but not required. The ideal candidate has experience conducting research in low-income settings, and/or applying field/lab experiments, and/or machine learning. Moreover, they are excited to communicate their research to the public.
