We are seeking a key member of the Global Commercial Innovation, Digital and Strategy team, the Head of Digital and Innovation, Oncology Europe & Canada. You will partner with the Oncology Europe Leadership Team to bring innovative business solutions at both the regional and in market level, to support our business operations.
A key responsibility will be to identify, partner and establish relationships with winning external vendors who have unique digital technologies that deliver against our unmet needs. Deployment of key care platforms improving the oncology patient journey, and working with key markets to execute against these care trajectory integrated platforms is an essential part of the role.
You are accountable for developing and implementing an emerging capability to deliver the infrastructure needed and the execution of complex, actionable, big-data analytics that support strategic, closed-loop marketing efforts (Customer, Consumer & Digital) across OUR Oncology Portfolio (DDR franchise, Lung Franchise, Antidrugconjugate franchise, haematology franchise).
You will serve as a key resource to the Oncology Europe Leadership Team, providing strategic guidance on the productization of digital experiences, supporting executive decision-making, and ensuring regional leadership has clear and commercially-relevant understanding of the projects in your portfolio and is equipped to communicate the value of these regional investments to both in-market and global stakeholders.
Oncology Business Expertise
Exceptional medical understanding of various tumor types that AstraZeneca already has and the ones that are in the pipeline
Multiple Tumor / Indication launch experience across oncology or similar therapeutic areas
Deep understanding of the oncology patient journey and its leverage points
Understanding of health care environment in European markets as well as reimbursement procedures
Understanding of Oncology/specialty pharmacy sales force landscape in the European market along with Payer, IDN’s GPO’s role in the buy-bill model & reimbursement
Deep Understanding Incentive comp structure, sizing, planning & alignment of Sales force
Digital Experience Innovation
Demonstrated experience owning digital engagement strategy at a multicountry level.
Expertise in the planning & operational deployment of omnichannel capabilities across the complexities of a pharmaceutical company in European markets.
In-depth knowledge of secondary data sources like patient level claims (Symphony, IMS, HMS etc.), EMR (Flatiron), IMS DDD, specialty pharmacy, specialty distributors, IDN’s & GPO’s, and familiarity with the regulatory landscape governing the appropriate and ethical use of these data sources in digital experiences within the individual countries.
Identify, evaluate and procure new and creative data sources
Ability to source and onboard new data sources by navigating compliance, legal, procurement, data governance and IT infrastructure
Working knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms such as k-NN and random forests, as well as hands-on understanding of neural networks and AI applications in digital health or digital therapeutics.
Deep understanding of statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing and regression to guide teams analyzing the data
Build insightful reports and presentations that clearly and succinctly highlight the actionable insights combined with business implications/strategic & tactical options
Digital Product Leadership
Recommends digital technology strategies by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements
Experience rolling out large omnichannel & digital health initiatives in complex organizational contexts that include field-based role training
Engage with IT leadership to pull through on immediate demand as well as provide mentorship on the technology road map to address future demand
Business Acumen
Demonstrate high competence for change management and leadership presence necessary to drive transformative efforts as a member of a regional team.
Synthesize complex situations into clear presentations for the senior leadership, sales leaders and medical teams and to deliver level-appropriate presentations with agility and executive presence.
Employ emotional intelligence and servant-leadership skills to enroll in-market teams and leadership in regional digital projects, including gaining commitments of time and budget necessary to successfully deploy solutions.
Advocate and coordinate with global oncology and enterprise capabilities to ensure regional needs are properly planned, resourced, and supported.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, MBA preferred
Pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience – Oncology experience preferred
Experience of owning & delivering successful digital experiences to drive commercially-relevant behaviours and/or measurable healthcare outcomes.
Experience implementing technology platforms with multiple data sources—experience with omnichannel, marketing automation, and CRM platforms in pharmaceutical industry is preferred
Ability to thoroughly assess data various data sources to identify strengths, weaknesses, and gaps
Ability to collaborate with both application/database developers and sales/marketing to ensure business needs are translated into easy to use and relevant applications
Consulting experience desirable, consultative approach required.
