The Microsoft Mixed Reality & AI lab in Zurich, Switzerland, is a research and development team building the future of mixed reality. We are passionate about using computer vision to map and understand the environment, recognize and track relevant objects, and assist the user in performing the task at hand. The team is building up a diverse expertise across computer vision, graphics, machine learning, robotics, interaction, and software engineering.

Responsibilities



  • Works individually and within a team to achieve goals and objectives across services

  • Provides leadership for software architecture with focus on cloud computing

  • Helps to define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards

  • Provides technical guidance, education and coaching to researchers and engineers

  • Develops solutions to increase service stability through automation and process re-engineering 

  • Analyze service performance to improve quality and customer experience

  • Is responsible for evaluating and implementing automation and tooling solutions to ensure consistent processes and repetitive tasks are performed with a higher level of accuracy. 

  • Introduce new and impactful technologies to the production support tool chain that help minimize friction for production releases and support, and to diagnose and recover from production incidents more quickly

  • Leads a sprint team to deliver on our shared commitments


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:



  • 4+ years of operating, monitoring, and improving a large-scale online service  

  • Strong and proven software and system engineering capabilities with

  • and related cloud technologies
    (Kubernetes, CosmosDB, Storage) 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent alternative skills and/or practical experience is required  

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with people. 


 


 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • KPI driven, proactive and motivated for continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth 

  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic environment

  • Build systems including MSBuild and CMake

  • Familiarity with one of the following topics would be advantageous: computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, and robotics. 

  • Experience building services in Azure using Azure Automation, and hybrid cloud/on-prem services is a plus.
