Our Consultancy & Advisory Services team provides our clients with outstanding technical expertise that enables the successful implementation of complex sustainability projects. Our expertise spans across multiple topics including land and water management, climate strategies, renewable energies, environmental impact assessments, green products, climate policy, carbon pricing, climate finance, and sustainable finance, to name just a few. Job summary:

This leadership role is responsible to scale up and deliver a broad range of commercial software solutions, with the aim to make climate action more scalable and accessible to our clients.  You will be responsible for setting and executing the strategy to make South Pole a leader in the sustainability software space. To achieve this, 

You will work closely with sales, marketing and other internal stakeholders in order to deliver software services that make it easy for our clients to decarbonize the world. You will develop sustainability software business cases in close interaction with business and practice leaders and develop them into solution roadmaps. In this process, you will need to make build or buy decisions and form partnerships, as well as prioritize between different cases.

Your team will consist of an existing in-house software development team and several product managers and product development managers.

Main tasks & responsibilities: 

• Create business cases, value propositions and operational models around sustainability software solutions in close interaction with business and practice leaders


• Develop and deliver a strategic technological vision and direction 


• Develop implementation roadmaps and prioritize between solutions


• Lead and grow the commercial software solutions team and guide them in solving one of humanity’s most pressing problems


• Research the external environment, and where appropriate identify and recommend external partners for the delivery of best in class technologies suitable for South Pole (manage buy or build decisions)


• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as marketing, sales, projects implementation, consultancy to ensure product-market fit and deliver highly successful software solutions


• Manage different software vendors to ensure that services meet business needs


• Be accountable for commercial and quality KPIs


• Manage financial goals and budgets for our portfolio of software solutions

Requirements:

Essential -

• A university degree, ideally in Business, IT Management, Engineering, Economics,  Sustainability or other business-related disciplines


• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a software product leadership position


• Strategic mindset, with the ability to establish a compelling vision for the growth of our sustainability software solutions function that enables South Pole to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment


• Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand the specific needs of our clients and translate these into effective software solutions


• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with key internal stakeholders from our different practices and business lines in order to jointly design innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients


• Experience in building, leading, mentoring and developing high-performing teams across geographies and cultures


• Proven expertise in product innovation and product development


• Outstanding project management and planning skills, with experience in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies/international context


• Advanced skills and accountability in successfully establishing goals and KPIs, as well as defining and managing resources accordingly (budgets, timelines, people, etc.)


• Excellent oral and written skills in English


• Comfortable operating globally in a fast-paced high-growth international environment

Desirable - 

• Experience in scaling up a function, including building, consolidating and growing a global software team

• Experience in or passion for environmental issues and understanding of sustainability, CSR and related topics


• Sound understanding of environmental sustainability practices in multinational companies
