Activity rate : 100 % (minimum of 50% for research project, maximum of 50% for institutional tasks)

Workplace : University of Lausanne, Dorigny

Your responsibilities

The main responsibility consists of conducting scientific research in the framework of the Roignant lab, which investigates how RNA modifications impact gene expression. The biological roles and molecular mechanisms of RNA modifications will be studied using multidisciplinary approaches (genome engineering / biochemistry / genomics / imaging) using Drosophila melanogaster and tissue culture cells as model systems. The main goals of the research are:

(1) to investigate the developmental and physiological functions of m6A RNA modification and

(2) to address its underlying molecular mechanisms.

Full funding for the position is available, although application to personal, international fellowship programs are expected.

Your qualifications

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Dynamic and dedicated scientist with a PhD degree in biology or a related discipline.

  • Experience in RNA Biology and/or Drosophila genetics is a plus.

  • Team player eager to participate in scientific discussions. Interest in developing your skills in multidisciplinary experimental strategies to understand basic   mechanisms in gene regulation.

What the position offers you

The Roignant lab is hosted at the Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG) at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), a vibrant, well-funded institute with a focus on functional genomics and equipped with modern core facilities (see www.unil.ch/cig). It is embedded in the broader Lausanne research environment that includes two universities (UNIL, EPFL), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, Ludwig Center for Cancer Research, university hospital, and a cluster of biotech companies flourishing in the larger Lake Geneva area.
