Your mission :
The Faculty of Life Sciences of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for a senior engineer position to establish and manage its new Bio-Engineering and Technology (BET) Laboratory at the AGORA Translational Cancer Research Center in Lausanne.
The AGORA brings together cancer biologists, bioengineers, bioinformaticians, imaging experts, cancer therapy investigators and clinician-scientists to study and treat human cancers in a uniquely multi-institutional and cross-disciplinary environment. A central pillar of the AGORA effort is bioengineering and the exciting new frontier of immunoengineering, enabling new approaches and targets for improved personalized medicine, and fostering the translation of promising technologies from the laboratory bench to the patient.
EPFL’s Institute of Bioengineering, in close collaboration with its partners from EPFL’s cancer institute (ISREC), The University of Lausanne (UNIL) and its University Hospital (CHUV), as weel as the Lausanne Branch of Ludwig Cancer Research (LICR), is establishing the AGORA BET Laboratory to provide dedicated laboratory space facilitating the transfer of technologies to the clinics, buoyed by close proximity and access to clinical samples and to collaborations with clinical research faculty and expert immune technologists. Main duties and responsibilities include :
The successful candidate is expected to :
manage the establishment of the BET lab infrastructure ;
coordinate operations and work flow in the BET lab;
support AGORA and EPFL personnel working in the BET lab;
and supervise to-be-hired staff engineer(s).
Your profile :
The successful candidate should have:
solid track record in technology transfer and R&D at the interface of engineering and biology;
extensive experience in managing interdisciplinary projects;
hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, assay development, advanced imaging methods, microfluidics, next-generation sequencing and/or analysis of large data sets will be advantageous;
outstanding communications skills in English and French, and prior industry experience will also be highly valued.
