Contract Type: Permanent Job Type: Full-time position Job Level: Experienced professionals LinkedIn: #LI-SFCHIn the context of anticipating the expected market design changes and the implementation of a continuous intraday market in Italy, we are looking for a new team member with proven knowledge and understanding of the Italian short-term and intraday power market.
In this special function, you will have a split responsibility. On one hand you will make sure that Alpiq’s operational and technical setup is fit for purpose at the time of the market design change in Italy. On the other hand, you will become part of the 24/7 shift trading team with an operational trading focus.
The allocation of priorities between the two roles will be set flexible and according to the evolving timeline of the expected market changes.
You will be part of a highly motivated team and your place of work is in Olten, Switzerland.
Your main responsibilities
• Preparation, anticipating and triggering the necessary adaptions of our operational setup regarding the upcoming continuous intraday market in Italy
• Definition, adaption and development of bidding tools for trading our thermal and RES assets on the Italian intraday market
• Development of intraday trading strategies and guidelines, performing of backtesting and performance monitoring
• Intraday trading our flexible Swiss hydro asset portfolio on the continuous intraday markets in Western Europe
• Balancing and trading our renewable portfolio on the continuous intraday markets in Western Europe during outside office hours
• 24/7 shift operations, thus regular night and weekend operations is part of this role.
Your qualifications
• Some years of trading experience on the Italian short-term, intraday and ancillary services markets (MGP, MI, MSD…)
• In depth understanding of the Italian power market design, the relevant processes and relevant stakeholders
• Ability to structure problems and manage priorities
• Strong team player with a communicative and proactive mindset
• Technical or economical higher education degree with proven skills in data analytics and development of trading tools and trading strategies in the utility segment
• Extensive coding skills with Excel VBA, R/Phyton beneficial
• Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory, additional language skills in German or French are highly beneficial.
