In our R&D department in Turgi, we are currently looking for a skilled and motivated FPGA engineer to join our team of R&D specialists. Are you interested in programming FPGA controller firmware for a wide range of medium voltage high-power grid-connected power converter applications, such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOMs), railway and grid interties as well as variable-speed pumped energy storage plants? Do you have a passion in control hardware architectures as well developing FPGA component/system verification methods? Are you excited about working in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and the company’s global R&D team drawing on your demonstrable communication skills? Then this job is for you!

Your responsibilities

• Take on the responsibility for development and testing of complex FPGA components in VHDL


• Proficiently drive projects from studies and simulations to implementation, testing and documentation


• Actively contribute to innovative and efficient development processes, such as FPGA verification and automated software testing to ensure high quality of releases


• Support the evaluation and introduction of control boards and platforms


• Support lab testing, troubleshooting as well as on-site installations at a domestic and international level

Your background

• Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer science, with a focus on embedded systems, supplemented by a minimum of 2 years professional experience


• Proven track record in VHDL programming, embedded software programming and experience with real-time OS


• Experience with test automation and scripting (Python, Perl, TCL). Knowledge of UVM/OVM verification would be preferred.


• Proficiency in the use of the following tools: Xilinx ISE, Vivado, Modelsim, Questasim, Synplify, Matlab/Simulink


• Team spirit with the capacity to work independently, complemented by a quick intellect and well-developed analytical skills


• Experience working in an Agile development team would be preferred


• Openness for new challenges and interest to learn and develop


• Fluent command of English, both written and spoken, preferably supplemented by German language skills
