In our Lead Discovery department in Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED), we integrate diverse protein and cell science disciplines to drive the discovery of transformative new medicines. We are dedicated to delivering therapeutic breakthroughs for patients in oncology, immunology, ophthalmology, rare diseases, neuroscience, and infectious diseases.
We are looking for a cell culture enthusiast to join and complement our diverse and passionate team. You will be part of a group of likeminded experts who proudly provide high-quality cell lines for drug discovery and develop automated mammalian cell-culture processes and workflows for assay development and high-throughput screening.
The Position
Join us in our drug discovery quest! In our team, you can contribute by independently handling cell line management for pRED. Your expertise in manual and automated cell culture techniques will enable project teams to successfully develop cell-based assays and screen compounds.
In this position, you :
● Master all aspects of cell banking, quality control, cell inventory management, import/export, and plate handling for assay development and screening
● Collaborate with our contract management team to establish the required Licenses and Material Transfer Agreements to ensure we are legally compliant when using and sharing our cell lines
● Manage our data workflows and partner with our informatics team to advance informatics solutions
● Continuously optimise our cell culture processes and help define outsourcing strategies for cell banking and quality control
● Develop automated cell-line processes tailored to the specific project needs in collaboration with a broad network of drug discovery specialists
● Follow emerging trends and technologies and scout for, assess, and implement relevant and promising technology solutions
● Engage and partner with assay development and screening teams to support our transition towards an agile and flexible collaboration network
● Contribute to drug discovery projects and other critical initiatives by representing the cell culture team or the whole Lead Discovery department
Who you are

● You have a graduate degree in a life science discipline and ideally already 2-3 years of relevant work experience in biotech or pharma
● You are a quick learner, inspired by entering new areas to build expertise, and you courageously and creatively take initiative to see your ideas come to life
● You have expertise in cell culture methods, including quality control and documentation
● You enjoy both, practical lab work and executing precise, high-quality cell-culture laboratory processes as well as contributing to broader strategic concepts
● You have demonstrated proficiency in navigating a matrix environment to effectively move projects forward by influencing, leading, advising, or consulting with other specialists
● Your profile is rounded off by having good presentation and communication skills in English
