Position Summary:


Leadership position responsible for oversight of European Supply Operations (EuSO) including production planning and inventory management, logistics/distribution, and packaging operations for European product supply. Responsible for advanced, complex analysis both internally and with global partners. Expected to have extensive knowledge across many functional areas and resources. Closely work with all internal and external resources to optimize European product supply availability and inventory investment.  The position is a key interface between regional supply operations and global functions.  This position must be able to build and maintain strong partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders and lead discussion, problem solving efforts and process improvements to ensure European supply goals are met or exceeded.

Principal Responsibilities:



  • Ensure product supply processes operate effectively to support planned level of European Sales (including new product launches) as well as Clinical Trials and Marketing programs

  • Provide leadership to the European Supply Operations team so that the function is fully aligned with Product Supply and Corporate goals and an effective partner to European Finance, and other functions in executing the European sales plan

  • Optimize European Supply Operations vendor relationships, ensuring that vendors deliver or exceed expected results

  • Be a strong proponent and spokesperson for Supply Operations within the global organization so that we can provide maximum impact on the business

  • Responsible for European product supplies and inventories for commercial, clinical trials, and related consumables, and for the appropriate coordination and communication with internal and external partners

  • Responsible for European 3PL, Courier, Freight Forwarder/Trucking and other supply chain vendors

  • Develop and execute the budget for the unit and for effectively managing expenses to deliver maximum value

  • Manage and develop direct reports, including appropriate training, instruction, and coaching, as required by their function and assume full responsibility for the performance of direct reports and functions

Interface with the following internal and external organizations:



  • Internal:

    • Strong partnership with European Sales, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Planning, RA and Finance for execution of European sales plan

    • Other Supply Chains and Clinical Trials Management


  • External:

    • European Wholesalers (operational interaction via Customer Service)

    • European 3rd Party Logistics & Service Partners




  • Accountable for European supply import/export, intra-European transport, storage, inventory, and distribution for the European markets. 


 Required Qualifications:



  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical commercial markets, clinical supply management, and global cold chain logistics; excellent business acumen

  • Able to think strategically and translate strategies into actionable plans

  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, to deal with short timelines and find creative solutions

  • Ability to manage people to deliver results while at the same time developing their competencies to move to the next level

  • Ability to effectively handle ambiguity and uncertainty

  • Proven ability to build trustful and effective relationships

  • Ability to work within a diverse multicultural and international environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels

  • Experience managing financial budgets


 Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in manufacturing operations or related curriculums

  • 10+ years of direct pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical experience within Manufacturing Operations or similar capacity

  • 5+ years direct or indirect team management/leadership (i.e. direct reports or matrixed team leadership)

  • Experience in project management and process improvement    

  • Ability to propose business-oriented, pragmatic and innovative solutions to supply chain issues

  • Good general knowledge of the regulatory environment and cGMP storage/transport requirements

  • Understanding of new product launches

  • Good knowledge of basic financial and quantitative analysis tools

  • Able to travel - up to 20%
