Intern Leaf Sustainability Who we’re looking for: • Enrolled University student at the time of the internship • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or any equivalent area • Key skills are: o Knowledge of GIS systems (ArcGIS, GRASS, QGIS) related to managing geographical coordinates, create layers and extract and import data from and to a GIS platform o Understanding of Ground Truthing techniques for improving quality and robustness of GIS outputs o Knowledge of modeling related to environmental impact analysis • Ability to prioritize and multi-tasking • Fluent in English You will join and work in the “Leaf Sustainability - Environment team” in Lausanne to support the development of a GIS based monitoring system for environmental related drivers and the validation of a biodiversity model linked to global data collection. As an intern, we count on you to achieve these following tasks: • Participate to the creation (criteria setting, model definition, testing, implementation) of a GIS monitoring system for environmental drivers in the Leaf global supply chain • Participate to the creation of clear monitoring layers for Leaf supply chain based on ? Deforestation ? Forest degradation ? Forest biomass changes • Create user reports analyzing the findings of the GIS monitoring on ? Deforestation ? Forest degradation ? Forest biomass changes • Participate to the testing and validation of biodiversity assessment methodologies using real data collected from agricultural operations from Leaf supply chain and providing a thorough assessment of results • Support the Leaf Sustainability Environmental team in routine tasks that involve biodiversity, forest protection and water stewardship in agriculture.
