Roche Digital Biomarkers is a multi-disciplinary team within Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Informatics. Here, a group of talented, passionate and hardworking colleagues are working on ground-breaking research to shed new light on diseases and ultimately improve development of new drugs for millions of patients.
Digital Biomarker studies are enabled by complex data collection and processing ecosystems comprising mobile applications, wearables, sensors, data lakes, data processing pipelines, analytics platforms, databases, device lifecycle management solutions etc. Currently, the use of digital biomarkers across clinical development programs is expanding significantly – generating terabytes of sensor/tracking data from dozens of studies and 10’000s of patients across global studies
The Position
As a Digital Biomarker Data Processing Solutions Architect you will be:
Designing and maintaining the scalable, modular Remote Patient Monitoring Platform (RPMP) architecture comprising data lakes, data processing pipelines, analytics platforms, databases, device lifecycle management solutions etc.
Leading the integration of the RPMP into the Roche enterprise clinical data management architecture and support cross company data standardization and harmonization initiatives
Leading software development teams and overseeing the development, maintenance and life-cycle management of all RPMP applications
Collaborating closely with Mobile Solutions Software Architects, Cloud/Backend Architects, Data Analysts, Clinical Study Managers and Lifecycle Managers to ensure that the RPMP provides end-to-end support of digital biomarker studies
Working with Software Product Owners to define and maintain the technical software development roadmap, enabling the RPMP to support multiple global clinical development programs and research collaborations
Who You Are
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who possesses a very good university degree (MSc level or above) in computer science, scientific informatics or a related field, has excellent communication skills and proven project management experience. If you bring as well the following set of skills and expertise listed below, we are looking forward to receiving your application.
8+ years hands-on solutions architecture experience
5+ years leading software development teams
Experience working in large, geographically distributed high-performance teams in matrix organizations
Expertise in agile software development methodology (SCRUM preferred)
Solid track record as a solution architect for fully scalable infrastructures processing very large (time series) data volumes in real time
Strong track record in successful information modeling and database design (SQL, no-SQL, Data Warehouses and Big Data)
Significant experience with various data integration/ETL tools, application integration, business process and data science tools (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Flume, Kafka)
Experience with RESTful web services
Experience with large scale cloud based solutions (Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS)
Experience in high performance computing
Familiarity with Computer Systems Validation for systems operating under GxP or other similar industry frameworks (healthcare, device, financial, aviation, transportation, energy) is a benefit
