As Senior Global Category Leader Real Estate, Facilities & Utilities you are part of Roche Global Procurement, and you will be accountable for the effective management of and the value delivery for Real Estate, Facilities & Utilities spend categories.

Global Procurement (GP) is a key function that delivers value to Roche by leveraging market knowledge, subject matter expertise and business insights in the procurement of goods and services and the management of Roche’s third party spend. Through collaboration with our external suppliers and internal business partners, GP helps bring innovative tests and medicines to patients.

As the Senior Global Category Leader Real Estate, Facilities & Utilities, you oversee a team of Category Managers and Category Project Specialists. You are accountable for the effective management of Real Estate and Facilities Categories across the global portfolio within Roche, including the overall development and implementation of the global and cross-divisional Real Estate & Facilities Category Strategy, and the execution of high value strategic initiatives in collaboration with the business. You are responsible for driving the prioritization of category strategies and related initiatives, consideration of international standards and harmonization initiatives and ensuring their successful realization through effective management of resources, and extensive engagement with the overall Procurement organization, major suppliers, and senior functional Business stakeholders.

Based on your proven subject matter knowledge and expertise in the area of Real Estate & Facilities Procurement, you are proactively identifying opportunities, engaging and partnering with senior Business stakeholders to deliver the overall Category objectives, savings targets and value beyond savings. Thanks to your strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, market knowledge and passion for innovation and best practice you ensure that the Category Managers and Category Project Specialists reporting into you deliver on their objectives and are viewed as value adding partners by Business stakeholders. You act as the main point of escalation for category specific issues and topics, and take personal ownership of certain large or complex initiatives and supplier relationships.

Your responsibilities:

• Leading, developing and managing the performance of the Real Estate, Facilities & Utilities Category team.


• Establishing effective working relationships with regional and local Procurement to ensure alignment and the full realization of the benefits beyond savings of the Category Strategy


• Accountable for the cross-divisional co-creation and application of a Business-aligned long-term Category Strategy and the development of an annual pipeline of strategic category initiatives for the successful realization of that Category Strategy.


• Understanding business priorities and challenges and developing strong relationships with key functional Business stakeholders and other Procurement leaders. Ensuring an environment where Procurement can challenge the Business’ demands and specifications to maximize value from third-party spend and lean organization.


• Ensuring a robust approach to supplier management, risk mitigation, value creation and developing innovative programs.

To be successful, you have a University degree, in business or life sciences area preferable. You have 10+ years of in-depth strategic and/or operational procurement experience with extensive knowledge of category management and advanced strategic sourcing, with subject matter expertise in Real Estate, Facilities and Utilities Categories and outstanding communication, project and risk management capabilities with an ability to set priorities, manage global cross-functional teams and deliver complex strategic initiatives.

Further requirements:

• Confirmed business acumen and a proven capability in negotiation, conflict resolution and partner management.


• Experience in Strategic Relationship Management


• Experience in Real Estate and Facility Management industry preferable in life sciences or related industry (i.e. in highly regulated / technical environment)


• Proven leadership and management capabilities including the ability to successfully provide feedback and development support to teams and individuals.


• Change management and business transformation skills with direct experience in applying Agile approach in the way of working


• Business level fluency in English, German would be an asset
