The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, has an opening for a position as Full, Associate or Assistant Professor tenure track joint position, in the Section of Mathematics and the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Physics Section, in the field of Mathematical Physics.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Section of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva hosts the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) SwissMAP and offers a particularly stimulating scientific environment. The NCCR SwissMAP carries out first-rate research in Mathematical Physics within 5 research directions: Geometry, Topology and Physics, Field theory, Statistical mechanics, String theory, and Quantum Systems. The Section of Mathematics, the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Physics Section and the NCCR SwissMAP are looking for an outstanding mathematical physicist with pronounced interest and expertise in the research areas developed by the NCCR SwissMAP. This is a full time tenured position (or tenure track in the case of an assistant professor), shared 50/50 by the Section of Mathematics and the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Physics Section. Duties include developing a research program at the highest international level, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level (in both mathematics and theoretical physics), and securing external funding. Moreover, the successful candidate will supervise master and doctoral theses and will take up administrative and organizational duties at the section/departmental level. The successful candidate will be capable of developing a broad and independent line of research in topics of interest to both Section of Mathematics and Department of Theoretical Physics of the Physics Section. She/he is expected to contribute to the excellent international scientific reputation of our University.
REQUIREMENTS: PhD in theoretical physics or mathematics or equivalent degree. Publications in international top journals. Experience in teaching welcome.
