Our team in Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Informatics is part of Roche’s Global Research & Early Development Organization. The mission of our team is the design, development, and delivery of innovative integrated scientific informatics solutions and platforms focusing on data capture, analysis, and visualization of chemical, biological and biomedical data to support scientific decision making in all stages of the drug development processes and finally to deliver new innovative treatments to the patients. We are shaping the digitalization of Pharma Research & Early Development (pRED) at Roche by co-creating the Digital Strategy for pRED, and we are growing. You are part of the leadership team of the Scientific Solution Engineering & Architecture team (S2EA) within pRED Informatics.
Within S2EA you lead a team of scientific informatics experts (Master and Ph.D. degrees) within an agile framework.
With your peers you develop and maintain our agile and high-performance culture by enabling creativity and innovation as well as encouraging decision making on the lowest possible expert level.
You are responsible for the people management of your team and in collaboration with your peers for broader S2EA regarding recruitment and selection, staffing, performance, education and professional development.
You are a member of the pRED Architecture Core Team and Digital Architecture Board in which you coordinate and provide architectural guidance and consultancy to project and service teams. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining the application, information and infrastructure landscape of pRED as well as defining and implementing the solution architecture for the Digital Strategy of pRED.
You take the lead in the delivery of research informatics projects by:
interfacing with scientists and business analysts to translate requirements into innovative and modern scientific software solutions
designing the overall solution architecture and integration into our system landscape
evaluating and assessing commercial and open-source software solutions
planning and coordinating implementation efforts of distributed developer teams and external partners.
identifying opportunities (with external parties) for off-shoring or near-shoring solutions for operations and service activities
You invest in learning new things and looking actively into emerging technologies to work on the front- end of technology to contribute to solutions for patients.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, (Bio)Informatics, or related fields. If you have a keen interest in Pharma and Medicine and you fit the profile below, we look forward to receiving your application.
Servant leadership mindset and experience with leading people in an agile environment.
Experience in software engineering and designing complex and highly integrated data-driven software solutions. Strong knowledge of DevOps workflow and tools such as Git, containers, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code.
Enterprise architecture skills and experience with the design of a digital architecture, including cloud solutions.
Experience in project and program management and previous experience in leading large scale projects; work experience with off- and near-shoring is a plus.
Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style.
Experience with stakeholder management in a complex matrix organization; work experience in an R&D organization is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English: German is a plus.
