About the Role

Are you experienced in building quantitative models in uncharted territories? Do you have a passion for sustainability in insurance? If yes, this job plays to your strengths!

As a Senior Sustainability Manager:

• You create the concepts and tools to build the quantitative management of our sustainability strategy


• You initiate and run projects to advance sustainability in our business, and to enable the company's business units to assess the sustainability performance of their portfolios


• You represent Swiss Re on sustainability towards clients, and at external events, and brief management on sustainability matters.

Together with your team:

• You will contribute to understanding and assessing the sustainability performance of our core business activities, our products and investments, including targets and metrics.


• You will help implement and advance the company-wide sustainability strategy together with key internal partners, including working on change initiatives.


• You will advance our engagement with internal and external partners on sustainability and contribute to the reporting and communication of Swiss Re's sustainability achievements.

At Group Sustainability, we enable sustainable and profitable growth for Swiss Re by driving the Group Sustainability Strategy. We strive for sustainability leadership within our industry, and we quantify and measure our progress. We partner with Business Units and Group Functions to embed sustainability in all aspects of our business and to drive commercial opportunities with a long-term perspective. We engage with sustainability partners – including clients, investors and regulators – to identify, assess and steer sustainability topics and to position Swiss Re. We coordinate and substantiate communication and reporting of sustainability internally and externally.

About You

In your role, you have deep understanding of sustainability matters and strong quantitative skills, which enables you to lead related initiatives in collaboration with our risk managers, IT and smart analytics teams. You are part of an agile team that drives sustainability at Swiss Re.

You bring along the following qualifications and experience:

• Master's degree or PhD in Natural Sciences or another field relevant for sustainability matters.


• Five or more years of work experience in sustainability with experience in underwriting or business development in the re/insurance industry.


• Experience in programming (Matlab, R, Python or similar), data processing and handling database applications.


• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) a requirement, further languages a plus.

• Strong project and stakeholder management skills
