At present, we are looking for a Platform Project Manager to be a key member of the Automotive Solutions Department.

The platform is a dynamic combination of conventional design, engineering, and production efforts, as well as critical components over several product types. The primary goals for the platform project team are to minimize the cost of development and increase quality. Another goal is to speed up product go-to-market for OEM solutions and further industrialization.

In this role, your key responsibilities will be to deliver platform project milestones/goals on time, at a high standard of quality and within budget. You will take part in the challenging and exciting journey of the development of WayRay key solutions that connect our core technologies to the customer products.

This role reports directly to the Head of Automotive Solutions and is located in Zurich.

Primary tasks 

• Driving and motivating the team towards goal completion.


• Creating a project roadmap, resource plan and budget.


• Being a master of planning things when they are unclear (you know that in the real world there’s never enough information and it doesn’t scare you).


• Being a pro in defining project requirements.


• Setting up work packages and task plans for team members.


• Analyzing project risks and preparing mitigation plans.


• Preparing status reports for top management and the teams.


• Establishing and conducting the project steering process.


• Designing and implementing project documentation.


• Making sure the workload is balanced and the budget is actualised.


• Working closely with the team to define priorities for daily tasks if conflicts arise.


• Being the point of contact and project knowledge holder for external parties and functional departments.


• Working closely with the Platform Director to set goals and milestones and to assess their completion. You will be the intermediary for the customer product development team.


• Being ready to speak openly and out loud if you see something is wrong.

Additional tasks (for the candidates with similar experience) 

Take part in developing and executing the project management system within the company by:

• Arranging a project management ecosystem.


• Assisting in moving all processes to a new environment. Teaching employees.


• Developing training for the team regarding project management methodology to improve the team's level.


• Managing the project management process, creating transparent communication within the team and between different groups.

Required knowledge and skills

• Experience in the automotive industry (European, Asian, US companies ) or industrial R&D is a must.


• Higher technical education (specialisation in any area of our R&D: mechanical engineering, instrumentation engineering, optical systems).


• Technological literacy.


• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies. 


• 5+ years experience in managing product development or R&D projects.


• English language at the level of advanced (C1) and above. 


• Deep understanding of the software program environment.


• Professional knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.


• PMI certification.


• Ability to work with Atlassian products (Confluence, Jira, etc.) or similar.


• Excellent teamwork and leadership skills.
