The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by 13 visionary surgeons, the AO fosters one of the most extensive networks of over 215,000 surgeons, operating room personnel, and scientists in over 100 countries.

AO Spine is an international community of spine surgeons generating, distributing, and exchanging knowledge to advance science and the spine care profession through research, education, and community development. Today, AO Spine has a community of 6,500 members.



We are looking for a highly motivated personality for the position of:


Regional Manager AO Spine EMEA


Based in our office in Davos, Switzerland, we offer maximum flexibility in terms of alternative working models such as home office days. You will guide and support the Regions Europe and Southern Africa as well as Middle East and Northern Africa. You will provide strategic and operational management to AO Spine’s EMEA boards and manage the team for the regions.



In this role you will be required to



  • Manage the budget and financial performance.

  • Orchestrate the regional boards and country councils.

  • Manage a team of about five to eight professionals.

  • Ensure professional planning and execution of educational events.

  • Build relationships with partners.

  • Drive innovation in education and network management.

  • Manage communication to various stakeholders.

  • Manage the fellowship, network, and research program.

  • Ensure the regions’ compliance with legal, external and internal regulations.


In order to master this challenge you have



  • A university or similar degree

  • Ideally, at least five years proven significant professional management experience in a regional function

  • Experience in establishing and implementing a strategic plan

  • A background in a medical or scientific field (experience with medical education would be an advantage)

  • Strong leadership, project management and communication skills

  • A proactive and service-oriented personality and a consensus orientation

  • The ability to manage strong personalities

  • A convincing personality and ability to negotiate and work with collaborators on all levels

  • High resistance to stress

  • The willingness to travel (up to 30 percent)

  • Fluency in English and at least one other regional language (a must)
