The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by a group of visionary surgeons, today, the AO has a global network of 200,000 health care professionals. Each year it offers over 830 educational events around the world, which are supported by nearly 9,000 faculty and are attended by over 58,000 participants. It has 20,000 surgeon members working in the fields of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial (CMF), veterinary, and reconstructive surgery.

AO Spine is an international community of spine surgeons generating, distributing, and exchanging knowledge to advance science and the spine care profession through research, education, and community development. Today, AO Spine has a community of 6,500 members.



In our office in Dübendorf, Switzerland, we are looking for a highly motivated personality for the position of:


 


Project Manager (temporary) AO Spine EMEA


 


In this function you will guide and support AO Spine Europe, Middle East, and Africa (AO SEMEA) in becoming a dynamic academic and community leader in spine care throughout the region. You will be part of the AO SEMEA team. Your main responsibility will be managing and coordinating educational events and developing constructive working relationships with stakeholders to enable the strongest possible engagement of AO Spine.




In this role you will be required to



  • Manage and coordinate the execution of all educational events in accordance with AO Spine and AO organizational policies and guidelines.

  • Develop constructive working relationships with stakeholders (country councils, members, and industry partners) in these areas to enable the strongest possible engagement with and loyalty to AO Spine.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for all national officers and for all activities across a subregion, and partner with councils to develop country-specific plans.

  • Develop educational program in coordination with the local councils respecting local needs and AO Spine policies and guidelines.

  • Organize country council elections to ensure the full engagement of well-functioning councils to enable a smooth transition process following national elections.

  • Professionally manage country council meetings, agenda planning and minutes in coordination with the national chairperson.

  • Be responsible for continuing medical education (CME) accreditation process.

  • Ensure that the highest educational and branding quality standards are achieved at all events.

  • Ensure compliance with the AO Corporate Identity and Sponsorship Guidelines at educational events.

  • Be responsible for budgeting process project management.

  • Develop and manage the project budgets.

  • Drive community development at all relevant events and congresses.

  • Partner with national community officers to understand and respond to the value behind member acquisition and retention.

  • Work closely with AO SEMEA community development focal point to ensure successful implementation of community development initiatives.


In order to master this challenge you have



  • A university bachelor's degree or at least three years of professional experience in a similar position, preferably in a scientific/medical environment, or specific additional professional training.

  • Experience with budget responsibility

  • Online education knowledge and experience

  • Project management skills

  • Experience in developing project plans and time schedules

  • Fluency in German and English (required); additional languages are a plus.
