The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by a group of visionary surgeons, today, the AO has a global network of 200,000 health care professionals. Each year it offers over 830 educational events around the world, which are supported by nearly 9,000 faculty and are attended by over 58,000 participants. It has 20,000 surgeon members working in the fields of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial (CMF), veterinary, and reconstructive surgery.

AO Spine is an international community of spine surgeons generating, distributing, and exchanging knowledge to advance science and the spine care profession through research, education, and community development. Today, AO Spine has a community of 6,500 members.


In our office in Dübendorf, Switzerland, we are looking for a highly motivated personality for the position of:



Project Coordinator (temporary) AO Spine EMEA


In this function you will support AO Spine in becoming a dynamic academic and community leader in spine care throughout the region. You will be part of the AO Spine Europe, Middle East, and Africa (AO SEMEA) team. Your main responsibilities will be planning, supporting and coordinating AO SEMEA events independently (communicating with faculty, creating programs, printing badges and certificates, organizing material shipment, setting up event rooms, etc) and being present on-site.


In this role you will be required to



  • Prepare council meetings in AO SEMEA for responsible countries and execute elections.

  • Coordinate travel and participant management tasks for educational events in the region.

  • Support congress preparation (prepare documents, ship/take material) and set up and manage the booth.

  • Oversee fellowship programs for AO SEMEA

  • Manage the certification process for the spine centers.

  • Oversee fellowship programs for the AO SEMEA

  • Create membership statistics for AO SEMEA.

  • Deputize project managers when necessary.

  • Prepare and send out AO SEMEA

  • Coordinate office work.

  • Be the contact person for the external and internal stakeholders.


In order to master this challenge you have



  • A higher education ("Fachausweis") or at least three years of professional experience in project work

  • Qualified professional know-how and behavior

  • Online education knowledge and experience is a plus

  • Project coordination management skills

  • Service and people orientation

  • Good English knowledge

  • Good communication skills
