in Quantum Computing and Quantum Condensed Matter Theory
The Department of Physics at the University of Basel, Switzerland invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professorships. The University of Basel is "Leading House" in the NCCR (National Centre of Competence in Research) project "SPIN: Spin Qubits in Silicon". NCCR SPIN, a research initiative within Switzerland, was approved in December 2019 and will start its activities in summer, 2020. SPIN aims to develop elements of scalable quantum computer technology, focussing on electron and hole spin qubits in silicon and germanium. Linked to NCCR SPIN, two new tenure-track assistant professorships have been created at the Department of Physics, University of Basel, one in experimental physics, the other in quantum condensed matter theory. More detail on SPIN is available from the Swiss Science Foundation (www.snf.ch/en/researchinFocus/nccr/spin) and from the department's own web-site (www.quantum.unibas.ch/nccr-spin).
Your position
The new professors should make vital and original contributions to the activities of NCCR SPIN and to the department's activities in quantum science, they should provide leadership in research, and they should contribute to teaching at both Bachelor's and Master's levels.
Your profile
Candidates should hold a PhD and demonstrate an excellent track-record in quantum science and quantum technology.
