Portfolio Manager, Relationships, Private Sector Engagement Department - GL D - Temporary until June 2021

</div>Portfolio Manager, Relationships, Private Sector Engagement Department - GL D - Temporary until June 2021Reporting to the Manager, Private Sector Engagement, build and manage all aspects of relationships with non-public sector donors & prospects, in particular foundations and philanthropists, devising and implementing engagement plans and servicing donors with a view to new/increased financial or non-financial contributions.

Key Responsibilities



  • Generate additional funding from non-public sector donors and manage partnerships with non-public sector actors for the provision on support to program effectiveness, with a particular focus on Private Philanthropy and potentially other portfolios.

  • Support in-kind partnerships contributing ideas on areas where private sector innovation can add value and when appropriate engaging Private Sector prospects to secure in-kind donations.

  • Build, nurture and manage the Global Fund’s Private Sector partnerships/relationships across all seniority levels of current and prospective donors.

  • Act as focal point for current and prospective donors as well as for a variety of other Global Fund stakeholders.

  • Devise, propose and implement detailed engagement strategies for current partners and other solutions aimed at enhancing partnerships.

  • Adapt engagement offering to individual donor requirements (incl. in-country and co-financing) and work closely with internal Global Fund stakeholders (in particular, Grant Management) to achieve fundraising goals.

  • Structure contributions, negotiate agreements (in cooperation with Legal), close deals and monitor cash flows.

  • Guide Portfolio Officer/s on tasks related to partnership management. Contribute actively to the development of Private Sector engagement strategies and operational processes, including structuring of the value proposition and reporting etc.

  • Coordinate work to meet donors’ information/reporting needs.

  • Pro-actively coordinate high-quality delivery by internal stakeholders to donors.

  • Develop and prepare presentations and other material for marketing and related activities.

  • Organize and participate in high level donor visits and trips to showcase the impact of donor investments.

  • Guide, as appropriate, research conducted by Portfolio Officer/s on donor prospects and market opportunities.

Qualifications


Essential:



  • Advanced University degree (Masters level of equivalent); or,

  • Relevant first degree and at least 10 years of relevant post first-degree work experience.


Desirable:



  • Advanced degree in Business Administration or other as relevant.


Experience


Essential:



  • Professional experience in the private sector or working with the private sector (e.g. in fundraising) or on private-sector related themes;

  • Sales & marketing experience;

  • Successful track record in relationship management on an international level;

  • Expertise on development issues and understanding of development co-operation.


Desirable:



  • Over six years of professional experience in the private sector or working with the private sector (e.g. in fundraising) or on private-sector related themes;

  • Professional experience working in a developing country.

  • Previous (philanthropic) fund-raising experience.

  • Understanding of global health issues and the three diseases.

  • Understanding of innovative financing vehicles, e.g. trust funds.

  • Experience in grant development or loan management.

An excellent knowledge of English and preferably a good working knowledge of French. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
