The International Digital Health & Artificial Intelligence Research Collaborative (I-DAIR) is a Geneva-based initiative for the inclusive, responsible and innovative use of data and digital technologies for global health. We are currently funded by some of the leading foundations in the area of health and innovation, and our partners are pursuing exciting and cutting-edge work in digital and artificial intelligence (AI) - based applications for health across the globe.

Job Context

Led by Ambassador Amandeep Gill, former Executive Director of the UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation, our team is coming together rapidly at Geneva and a small number of other hubs around the world. A series of pathfinder projects in areas such as a global research map, real time epidemiology and dashboards, data architectures and data interoperability, bridging research and practice communities through micro-narratives, experience sharing and capacity-building, and governance for AI and data for health are slated to begin in Summer 2020 as a prelude to further development of the platform and its formal launch in 2022.

We are looking for six highly motivated, hard-working, talented and resourceful self-starters
to join the I-DAIR team in different capacities. We prefer candidates to have cross-domain expertise and experience in at least two of the following: data science and artificial intelligence; clinical practice and research; management, health policy and development work.

Job Description

The Research Director/Executive Adviser to the CEO will also deputize for the CEO. She or he should have a strong research/science background in Switzerland/Europe and a global perspective on academic and scientific collaboration. She or he will be responsible for following up on all strategic issues, e.g.



  • working with strategic scientific and academic partners of I-DAIR;

  • developing a long-term research agenda; 

  • administration of a team and 

  • management of I-DAIR’s governance and oversight mechanisms.




Experience/Qualifications




  • PhD plus BTech/MSc in Science or Engineering, MBBS/MD/MS in medicine or psychiatry, MA/MSc/MPH in a health and development policy or related social science discipline.

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in academia or research. Consideration will be given to candidates who have managed international research projects, preferably with partners in the Global South. 

  • Mandatory: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Desirable: Knowledge of French and/or German.

Our offer



I-DAIR offers a competitive package for selected candidates with respect to the non-profit space. Successful candidates can expect to grow with the initiative. The contract will be for up to 2 years renewable. While we prefer full-time candidates, in exceptional cases part-time & remote working team members may be considered.
