The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) develops and applies advanced epidemiological, biostatistical and modelling methods to advance innovation, validation, and application in the field of public health. Through our focus on designated research topics and interdisciplinary collaborations within and across groups, units and other Swiss TPH departments, EPH contributes to health and policy making worldwide, especially in Switzerland, Europe, and low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia.

We are seeking applications for a


Project Assistant (GlobMal Phase 3)


Switzerland, through a contribution of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC - DEZA), increased in recent years its support for the global level activities in the field of malaria control. Malaria is currently still responsible for half a million deaths globally, and its control is a priority for Swiss development strategies.

The Global Malaria Technical & Training Support Package (GlobMal project) led by the Health Interventions Unit at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), aims to enhance technical support and training for global malaria control.

The Project Assistant will support the activities of the GlobMal project in the areas of administration and management. The person will need to work under the guidance of the Project Leader with a high level of independence in a multi-cultural and international environment. In return, this is an exciting position that will contribute substantially in the global fight against malaria.

Your responsibilities include:



  • Assist in the logistics of meetings and all project-related events

  • Support in the logistics of malaria courses

  • Input data into databases/tools and maintain such databases/tools

  • Write reports and publications

  • Provide general office support


You should have the following experiences and skills in:



  • Sound professional qualifications in scientific writing

  • Several years of professional experience in project support

  • Demonstrated competence in using office software applications efficiently, chiefly Microsoft Office tools

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and French

  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented working style

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and to communicate in a credible and effective way

  • Personal motivation and the ability to work independently

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to maintain working relationships in a multicultural and international environment

  • A MSc in a relevant field could be an asset
