Research Associate, Cancer Immunotherapy Discovery Department

The Position:


The candidate will join the Functional Genomics group in the Cancer Immunotherapy Discovery Department at the Roche Innovation Center Zurich (Schlieren, Switzerland) and will interact closely with a team of scientists working on novel targets for cancer immunotherapies. She/he will focus on performingin vitroandex-vivobiological assays to support forward genetic screens and help characterize new targets and unravel their mechanism of action.


Primary responsibilities include:



  • Develop and implement experiments and methods to validate drug targets and investigate the mechanism of action on anti-tumor immunity


  • Design, execute, analyze and present experiments together with scientists from the team


  • Support forward genetic screening efforts


  • Prepare documentation in accordance with Roche guidelines


  • Have laboratory manager responsibilities including daily lab routine, ordering supplies and monitoring inventory

We are looking for the below qualifications:



  • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell & Molecular Biology or related field with at least 2 years of work experience


  • Focused background in Immunotherapy or Immunology related fields


  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture


  • Experience with cell manipulations techniques like CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, transfection methods and viral transduction


  • Hands on experience with phenotypic and functional characterization of cells by FACS, ELISA, Luminex is an advantage


  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, etc.) is a plus


  • Fluent in English (both oral and written)


  • Good data interpretation and presentation skills


  • Ability to work effectively and independently within a team of scientists


  • Excellent communication skills, endowed with personal initiative


  • Precise and detail oriented working style to provide high quality data
