Your ‘day to day’ The Manager Epidemiology will supervise a team, set the strategy for the Population Health Impact Modelling (PHIM) workstreams and act as epidemiology leader/technical mentor and key resource to senior management beyond PMI R&D, on related projects, in particular Health Economic modelling within the Real-World Evidence (RWE) team. You will ensure PMI’s success in this strategic area of substantiation of risk reduction of Smoke-Free products through innovative research and outstanding scientific leadership in alignment with senior management and strategic business objectives to support “Smoke-Free world" vision. You will also ensure that the appropriate and up-to date statistical methodologies are applied, as well as that the overall content scientific designs and content of PHIM activity is scientifically sound and aligned across platforms. In addition, you will be responsible to set up appropriate workflow systems/priority-setting for PHIM workflows and develop the visibility and credibility of the team within PMI. Furthermore you will provide scientific/operational direction, implement continuous process improvements to ensure operational quality and efficiency. This job requires occasional worldwide travels. More specifically, you'll • Lead the PHIM team (internal/external staff in statistics, programming, and health economics), as well as the strategy to support and develop PHIM activity, e.g. protocols, workflow, priority-setting, methodological substantiation, scientific publications. • Improve the standard procedures to support PHIM and RWE activity. • Be responsible for PHIM and epidemiological science ensuring that activities in all areas are aligned with program deliverables. • Initiate and drive specialized scientific work such as extensions to the PHIM, coordination with health economics activity and academic publications. • Be responsible for the improvement/development of programming environments for PHIM • Lead coordination of RWE activity with PHIM, e.g. initiate or integrate RWE projects to provide data for population health modelling or health economic modelling. Who we’re looking for • BSc in statistics or epidemiology and PhD in biostatistics or epidemiology, data science. Qualification in health economics is an advantage. • Substantial experience in study design, conduct and analysis of RWE studies in pharmaceutical, consumer goods, financial or clinical research environment. • Sound experience with statistical programming language (SAS or R), large electronic health databases and in project management. • Confirmed previous line management experience, especially within a RWE setting. • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational and leadership skills; ability to work independently and in a team. • Knowledge of the health data landscape in key markets, e.g. Japan. • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
