JOB DESCRIPTION

For our Business Unit Service & Support at Leica Microsystems in Heerbrugg, Switzerland we are looking for a Technical Writer and Project Coordinator who will ensure the quality of our service documents and who will help to improve the competencies of our field service engineers. RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Creation of Technical Documents: Interdepartmental research, preparation of the information in a comprehensible (target group-oriented) and standard-compliant service document as well as editorial review according to the editorial guidelines in order to provide qualitatively and quantitatively prepared instructions (e.g. service manuals, service information, troubleshooting guides, training documents, e-learnings).

  • Publication and Document Management: Publish service documents, check and update existing service documents; archive older versions (version management) to provide current instructions to service engineers worldwide. Ensure that service documents are available for Field Service Engineers on time in accordance with the APD (accelerated product development) process.

  • Further Development of Documentation Tools and Processes: Contribution in the further development of documentation tools and processes with the aim of continuously improving the quality of service documentation including multimedia documentation and in consideration of new Standards.

  • Standardization of workflows and documents: Support standardization of workflows and document types to meet normative and internal requirements, define workflows and include them in editorial Guidelines.

  • Contact person at Heerbrugg site: Contact for internal questions concerning documentation and coordination of documentation projects in cooperation with project managers and department heads. Prioritize and distribute tasks within the documentation team to complete service documents on time and manage resource Bottlenecks.

  • Serviceability Project Coordination: Support the Serviceability & Innovation team by coordinating tasks of the APD process and service concept. Local  service contact for R&D and Product Management with the aim of being informed about the APD project phase at an early stage (phase 0), attend R&D daily management meetings and inform other service departments to support service deliverables compliance. Collaboration on specifications for service  requirement lists.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS



  • Professional experience as a technical writer or as project leader with good communication skills and motivation for development as technical writer

  • Experience of creating technical documents, preferable service documentation in an international company

  • Ideally branch experience from a medical device manufacturer/ pharma company/ machinery with strong focus on hardware

  • Mandatory are office tool skills and ideally a knowledge of relevant documentation software like FrameMaker, Photoshop, Camtasia

  • Ideally experience with complex technical topics and management of multiple documentation projects and tasks simultaneously to successful completion

  • Ability to work in cross-locational matrix organization globally (Switzerland, US, Singapore, Germany)

  • Able to coordinate tasks and ensure the success within Team

  • Very good verbal skills in English and preferably German language skills

  • Minimum a Bachelor degree in a “technical” or “communication” field (e.g.: Medical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Media & Communication Sciences, Multimedia Communication, Technical Documentation or similar)

  • Willing to travel up to 10 %
