Job Description
200 million patients worldwide are treated with Novartis ophthalmic products. Our Ophthalmology Franchise is reimagining what’s possible by bringing life-altering treatments to patients with visual impairments and blindness.
As Global Brand Medical Director, you will drive product and Medical Affairs strategy and action planning, ensuring strong relationships and information flow with external communities and physicians.
Your responsibilities will include:
• As member of the Brand team, drive alignment with the Global Marketing priorities and the Development organization. Ensure alignment and integration of indication plans.
• Develop a comprehensive global strategy for specific compound/brand along the lifecycle, beginning at DDP, which clinically differentiates the brand for target patient segments and supports successful global and regional execution, maximizing the life-time value of each compound.
• Act as medical representative on the Global Brand Team and Global Product Team or Global Clinical Team and Value Demonstration and Commercialization Team (VDCT). The GBMD targets its activities at the needs and requirements of its customers and stakeholders, i.e. KOLs and the medical / scientific community, patients and Health Authorities.
• The GBMD ensures that HE and Health and Patient Outcome perspectives are integrated into the product development strategy (in order to ensure the access to patient needs are captured and incorporated early in the clinical programs) and the medical affairs strategy, e.g. by helping to define appropriate end points for clinical development registration intent studies, designing the most relevant BOS studies, contribute to the most impactful patient and disease segmentation.
• Acts as deputy to the GMA Franchise Head when absent
• Medical degree, with clinical experience and medical affairs experience in Ophthalmology
• Understanding of how to bridge between the development and commercials areas, possibly from prior clinical trial and/or medical affairs experience within pharmaceutical industry
• Prior team management, management in the matrix environment
• Strong analytical skills to understand scientific opportunities and development gaps, as well as the research landscape of the brand and across the therapeutic class
• Strong EQ, with the ability to network across multiple functions and geographies, and to drive important discussions on the Clinical and Medical Affairs program, brand positioning, resourcing etc.
• Strong medical voice and clinical leadership in interactions with external and internal partners
• Fluent English (oral and written)
