The Challenge


As a Laboratory Technician you will be part of Nutrition Innovation Center. By executing laboratory trials you will be focused on developing high quality food and beverage recipes and prototypes. Based in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland, you will report to the Senior Scientist.


 


The Position


The Key responsibilities in this position will be:



  • Develop conventional food and beverage recipes and prototypes with DNP nutritional ingredients and conduct stability studies thereof

  • Perform laboratory trials for feasibility studies of new ingredients for competitive evaluation and customers’ trouble shooting

  • Execute laboratory tests on lab/pilot scale equipment e.g. miniature-scale HTST/UHT process system, high pressure homogenizer, Stephan mixer, double-jacket cooker etc.

  • Characterize food and beverage samples by methods such as powder characterization, viscosity, color measurements, refractometry etc.

  • Deliver experimental results based on established experimental protocols and interpret the results with support of senior colleagues

  • Manage the inventory of raw materials and equipment used in the workplace ensuring its maintenance and documentation

  • Ensure that maintenance,  calibration and cleaning of analytical and processing equipment is in accordance with internal requirements

  • Support hands-on trainings of internal and external customers in handling of DNP ingredients

  • Adhere to the specific procedures, guidelines and regulations with regards to hygiene, quality, environment, safety and other relevant standards


 


The Ideal



  • Bachelor’s degree in Food technology, Chemistry, Nutrition or comparable discipline

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to execute standard research experiments.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of most common IT programs (e.g. Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to operate, maintain, calibrate, and otherwise run complex instruments.

  • Track record of successful lab work.

  • Fluent in English and German, and any other European language is an asset.
