Team Leader In Vivo Operation

Oncology Discovery Pharmacology translates scientific discoveries into effective medicines for cancer patients. The Oncology Discovery Pharmacology Group is an integral unit within pRED Oncology, that leads the in vivo preclinical assessment of novel drugs candidate, by using state-of-the-art animal facility, innovative preclinical tumor mouse models, along with innovative multiplex technologies and cutting edge preclinical imaging approaches.


Within this environment, we are looking for a talented and motivated team leader who will lead and manage the in vivo operation team to provide the platform for the in vivo preclinical evaluation of innovative cancer immuno-therapeutics and to promote Animal Welfare and excellence in in vivo research.



Responsibilities:



  • Leading a team of research associates, planning in vivo experiment and monitoring team’s productivity

  • Managing staff, setting personal objectives, supporting career development

  • Operate in close collaboration across different teams to coordinate the logistic of in vivo experiments

  • Support the establishment of the most relevant animal models

  • Supporting the Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) and Site Veterinarian in terms of interaction with oversight/regulatory bodies and authorities by establishing specific reports and assessments, establishing and maintaining animal research permit

  • Coordinate, in tandem with the AWO, the internal training of specific in vivo techniques for new employees, PhD students and Postdoctoral fellows.


Job Requirements:



  • University Degree  Veterinary Medicine

  • Min of three years of experience in preclinical research and drug development in the Pharmaceutical Industry / Academia or CRO. Experience in drug development is a plus

  • Hands-on experience in rodent models of cancer is required, with knowledge and experience in standard animal handling techniques (i.v., i.p., s.c., p.o.), anesthetic and surgical procedures

  • Solid knowledge of European and Swiss on animal welfare regulations

  • Strong organizational skills and good team player

  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building, communication and partnering at all levels in a matrix environment

  • Demonstrated ability in people management and ability to foster development of team members

  • Good verbal and written communication

  • An excellent command of English both written and verbal, German is a plus 

  • Candidates should possess a LTK certificate or equivalent
