Big Data Software Engineer 80% bis 100%

What you achieve

Swisscom aims to provide the best possible Mobile Network experience and we work hard to remain the best Mobile Network provider in the world. In our Wireless Analytics team, we wrangle a wide range of structured and unstructured data coming from base stations, smartphones, passive probing systems, etc. to achieve these goals. As a Big Data software engineer, you will build solutions to make accurate, data-driven decisions, so that Swisscom can optimize the investments in our mobile infrastructure and plan the rollout of the latest technologies.



You will get to work on the whole range of applications in our wireless analytics and monitoring domain. This includes implementing and operating large, real-time Big Data pipelines with billions of events per day using Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink and similar technologies on our Hadoop cluster. You will also wrangle data in batch mode, develop APIs for Big Data queries or cutting-edge web-based visualizations. As part of a cross-functional agile DevOps team, you have full responsibility for the products and services we develop. We believe in T-shaping our skills; combining in-depth expertise in one field with active support for personal, collaborative development of a broad array of skills on the job.

Why you succeed



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (ETH/Uni/UAS) in Computer Science or related field or professional experience in Big Data processing

  • DevOps experience in a Linux, cloud / dockerized environment, configuration management systems (e.g. ansible)

  • Good programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala, Python or Javascript

  • Experience with Hadoop/Yarn, Kafka, Spark, Flink or other streaming approaches in Big Data

  • Working knowledge of traditional SQL databases

  • Experience with NoSQL (Druid, Elastic) and Kubernetes or CloudFoundry are a plus

  • Understanding of statistics, Data Science, and Machine Learning as well as knowledge of LTE, wireless communications, TCP/IP, and networking in general are a plus

  • Enthusiastic and flexible self-starter with a desire to learn

  • Very good English, German or French a plus
