Automation Expert in Bioassay Development & QC (temporary for three years) 

As an Automation Expert, you are part of Pharmaceutical development and Supplies in Pharma Technical Development in Basel.

The mandate of our group is, to reliably deliver the pipeline and supply quality products to patients. In “Europe Biologics“ (PTDE), we support biologics from Phase I into the Market.

Within the Analytics department, PTDE-A, the Bioassay section supports the whole Biotech portfolio with functional assays.A dedicated team focuses on the automation of Bioassays on liquid-handling/robotic systems.

Your Responsibilities:

As part of the Bioassay automation team you will establish and maintain automation solutions for Bioassays. This implies to

• Set-up Bioassays on robotic systems of different suppliers, which includes scripting using the respective operation software


• Evaluate options and perform integration of 3rd party instruments with liquid-handling systems


• Compare the performance of automated and manual assays, including statistical evaluations


• Perform the GMP-qualification of automation systems, together with our lab-IT group


• Work in close collaboration with local and international teams focusing on lab-automation and with suppliers of lab-automation solutions


• Work in close collaboration with scientists and technicians to optimize the solutions towards higher performance, robustness, and scalability

Your Qualifications:

• Master degree in a life-science or similar field fitting the scope of the position


• Automation knowledge and hands-on experience in lab automation, robotics, including working with liquid handling stations


• Knowledge of core programming concepts


• Hands-on experience in biochemical and biophysical analytics, preferably in the field of potency assays


• Excellent team and communication skills


• Experience with relational database structure, architecture and design is a plus 


• Good understanding in data management, data modelling and data integration (e.g. for reporting purposes) is desirable  


• GMP-experience is a plus
