Scientist / Senior Scientist High Throughput Bioanalytics

Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) is a global function within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). We enable discovery and early development of drug candidates in a rich portfolio of small molecules, large molecules, oligonucleotides and gene therapies in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, ophthalmology, rare and infectious diseases. The Investigative Safety department within PS is responsible for the conduct of all in vitro work to determine the ADME and safety of new Roche medicines. 


Pharmaceutical Sciences is embarked on a paradigm shifting change in the way discovery screening for safety and ADME optimisation is performed. An essential element in this is to re-invent the way in which we perform in vitro bioanalytics. An experienced and enthusiastic bioanalysis scientist is sought to lead the development of new high throughput bioanalytical and data processing approaches to enable next day data delivery from all in vitro screens. 


Responsibilities



  • Lead internal activities to build up high throughput bioanalytical capabilities


  • Lead in a matrix environment the development of workflow and database tools covering all aspects of the screening assay bioanalytics  


  • Scout for, test and validate new high throughput bioanalytical systems


  • Integrate existing screening capabilities with unmet needs and potential development; liaise with pRED-wide automation and IT resources


  • Provide technical leadership to group members and in the wider organisation on bioanalytical and sample logistics matters



Skills



  • A very high level of mass spectrometry, method development and IT competences


  • Track record in high throughput bioanalytics in the 


  • pharmaceutical or biotech industry 


  • Strong communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.


  • Agile mindset, creativity and inventive talent


  • Very good interpersonal skills for running internal and external collaborations and communicating to senior managers



Education and Experience



  • PhD or equivalent education in science or engineering 


  • 5 years experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry


  • Track record in developing bioanalytical methods and implementing new bioanalysis systems


  • Experience with multiple mass spectrometry systems


  • Knowledge and experience of using other analytical methodologies, e.g. ELISA


  • Fluent in English, ability to communicate in German an advantage.
