Senior Risk Manager EMEA

Your Tasks

This position represents an exciting opportunity to be embedded in the entrepreneurial environment of elipsLife while at the same time forming part of the broader Risk Management community of Swiss Re.

As Senior Risk Manager EMEA you will work in a small, dynamic team and have the chance to gain a broad insight into a wide range of risk management tasks. You will be involved in the day-to-day execution as well as continuous further development and implementation of risk governance matters and help to ensuring transparency, awareness and dialogue on the risks, elipsLife is exposed to.

Your primary focus will be on risk management activities across our EMEA entities. You will thereby be in close dialogue and cooperation with the business, support them in the identification and adequate reflection of key risks, and ensure that reasonable risk mitigations are implemented.

You will furthermore help to prepare and participate in quarterly risk meetings and play a key role in the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process. This includes planning, coordinating, tracking and writing reports in collaboration with the expert teams as well as continuously improving our processes.

As part of Risk Management’s review and due diligence responsibilities, you will be involved in the assessment of transactions and product proposals to support Risk Management's signature.

The Senior Risk Manager EMEA reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is hence a key contributor to ensuring appropriate risk oversight across the company’s European entities and contributing to decision taking across the elipsLife value chain. He/She is also a key representative of elipsLife within the Swiss Re Group Risk Management community.

Your Profile

Understanding complex problems, being able to describe them in a clear, concise and easily understandable way, and derive actionable conclusions is key for this position. As an optimal candidate, you have a very good knowledge of risk and solvency concepts combined with excellent communication and writing skills. You like highly interactive tasks and enjoy applying your organizing and people skills when collaborating closely with specialists across elipsLife and the wider Swiss Re Group. Further you have:

• 5+ years of experience in the re-/insurance industry: relevant work experience with respect to Enterprise Risk Management, solid understanding of insurance risks (in particular Life & Health and operational risks) and a good understanding of regulatory frameworks in elipsLife’s core markets


• Excellent analytical skills and conceptual skills: ability to analyse, challenge and comment on complex quantitative and qualitative developments and bring them into perspective on a wider scope


• Excellent communication skills (English is a must, German a plus), including experience in writing and editing in English and ability to moderate discussions


• Ability to work under pressure and to manage peak times


• Good team player, able to work across teams and cultures in a driving yet collaborative manner


• Flexibility for business travels across Europe (1-2 days/month)
