ABB Power Grids, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.
Establishing and maintaining a Quality Culture within GIS Product Group, by assuring and controlling Quality with systems, tools and teams to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. You will oversee developing & maintaining the Quality Management System of the local unit.

Your responsibilities

• Promoting and support the development of the local Quality strategy to accelerate the rate of process improvement


• Driving process improvements (leading projects, coaching, training, supporting) within the GIS organization


• Preparing process reviews together with process owner(s) ensuring pro-active identification of significant improvement potential


• Monitoring process adherence and fostering implementation of monitoring tools for this purpose


• Ensuring implementation of lean thinking and learning organization covering all functions and people


• Responsible for internal and customer audits as well as operational KPIs reporting and follow-up


• Leading Quality and Management Reviews


• Responsible for preparation of quality plans and project specific shop test programs according to standards and customer requirements Management of ISO certifications and maintenance of the management system


• Coaching other departments/functions with respect to product quality and quality processes


• Proactively measuring and analyzing data from production and field operation to early/pro-actively identify product quality issues

Your background

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering


• Several (3-4) years of experience in a similar position focusing on Quality Assurance


• Experience with Lean Six Sigma (e.g. Green Belt)


• Fluent in German and English


• Quality mindset


• High customer focus and independent work-style


• Technical competence in GIS (gas-insulated switchgear) manufacturing and product design is an advantage


• MS Office, SAP is a plus
