The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Basel is an Academic Drug Discovery & Development Center, which comprehensively covers academic drug research throughout pre-clinical and clinical research phases.

The Translational Complementary Medicine group at the Department is searching for a highly motivated 80-100% laboratory technician with excellent background in cell biology and immunology.


Your position



  • Support of PhD students and postdocs in their research activities.

  • Participate in developing and performing own research projects.

  • Perform general lab organizational and administrative tasks.

  • The place of work is Basel.


Your profile



  • Interest in the field of complementary medicine, especially phytotherapy and anthroposophical medicine.

  • BSc degree or higher in biological sciences or/and a "Laborant/in" degree.

  • Research lab experience including analysis of data (MS Office, GraphPad, SPSS) including cell culture work as well as strong background in cellular and immunological methods.

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge and minimum of 2 years' experience in flow cytometry assaying, measurements (optimal on CytoFlex/Beckman Coulter) and analysis (FlowJo, Kaluza). 

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the team.

  • Diligence, excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a lab.

  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in German and English.


We offer you

The successful and open-minded candidate will join and develop a newly established and dynamic research group that investigates complementary medical therapeutic concepts and studies the mode of action of herbal remedies and the impact of various extraction and production techniques on their in vitro and in vivo effects.
The initial contract will be for two years with the possibility of extension.
