Scientific Communications Director, PHC Ophthalmology

We are looking for an enthusiastic Scientific Communications Director in Ophthalmology to help us communicate the medical value our products and tool we bring to patients. In this global role, you will develop and implement the scientific communication strategy for the assigned Personalized Healthcare (PHC) integrated solution/product.

Furthermore, conflict management and cross-functional teamwork abilities help you manage the numerous stakeholders involved in scientific communications.


Overview of key scientific communications activities



  • Development of scientific narratives

  • Planning and execution of global and US publication strategy (manuscripts, abstracts, presentations)

  • External and internal medical education

  • Cultivating partnerships with medical societies and therapy area experts

  • Patient-focused communication

  • Congress activities (e.g. symposia, investigator related meetings, medical booths)


Responsibilities



  • Ensure consistency in message across all scientific communication activities

  • Seek input from relevant internal stakeholders to inform scientific communication strategy

  • Responsible for strategy, execution, assessment, and amplification of the scientific communication for the assigned integrated solution or product

  • Stay abreast of internal and external developments relevant for the assigned solutions/tools

  • Determine internal and external training needs and generates training materials accordingly.

  • Responsible for timely and on budget execution of strategy

  • Manage relationships with external medical communication agencies, prioritizes and delegates activities


Requirements



  • Professional experience (3+ years) in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or related experience (i.e. medical communications agency) is required

  • Advanced degree (PhD) and/or certification in scientific medical field (i.e. PharmD)

  • Experience working in data science and/or ophthalmology would be desirable

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral

  • High command of English language

  • Strong scientific background (i.e. data analysis, presentation skills)

  • Facility with cross-functional networking

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Well-established capacity for strategic thinking

  • Ability to travel overseas for extended periods (e.g. conferences, trainings, workshops)
