We are currently seeking a Health Policy Lead to join our Swiss Affiliate based in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The successful candidate will be accountable for the development and implementation of Swiss policy plan that delivers against long-term business strategy. In addition the Health Policy Lead will be responsible for critical relationships with policy makers, advocacy groups and other key external stakeholders as well as strategic leadership of external policy engagement plans.


Additional responsibilities include:



  • Lead development of Swiss policy plan and ensure flawless execution

  • Develop Amgen Switzerland long-term government affairs vision

  • Lead Policy Shaping Team consisting of medical director, communications manager, regulatory affairs lead and General Manager

  • Collaborate with Policy Shaping Team to ensure the policy plan supports the access and reimbursement plans for Amgen products and ensure advocacy strategies are included in Access/Brand plans

  • Ensure Amgen is considered the most valued biopharma company by policy makers, advocacy groups and other key external stakeholders

  • Ensures the organization is aware of relevant policies under discussion including emerging policy issues that would present a threat or an opportunity to Amgen’s short and long term’s objectives

  • Collects intelligence and communicates analysis to local team, regional VA&P team and key cross-functional colleagues as needed in a proactive and timely manner

  • Reaches out to internal stakeholders and in particular the regional VA&P team for support on local positioning, resources and training needs

  • Actively participates in Value, Access and Policy Committee and department meetings

  • Actively participates in Interpharma, forums and various working groups to shape industry strategy


Your profile:



  • Doctorate degree & 4 years of government affairs/policy related experience OR

  • Master’s degree & 7 years of government affairs/policy related experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 9 years of government affairs/policy related experience

  • You possess experience in representing corporate interests at local trade associations, driving key policy positions and building coalitions as needed

  • You have strong oral and written communications skills in local languages (German, French, Italian) and proficient in English

  • Ideally you have the following background: Previous experience working for government or parliament, and/or in government affairs team of pharma company (e.g. as Government Affairs lead or in-house lobbyist); and/or experience in public affairs consultancy with pharma clients; and/or experience in local trade association

  • You are able to work effectively with key stakeholders to build trust and support by identifying mutual interests and agendas

  • Understand how to engage and mobilize patient advocacy groups to take appropriate action in support of specific issues, such as access, and to support Amgen and the biopharmaceutical industry overall

  • Skilled at advocacy, influence and persuasion: able to convince others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic or common best interests

  • You possess unquestionable integrity and a sense of confidence, balanced with humility and sense of humor
