The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, English language, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Our school is committed to excellence in education. The school employs approximately 250 members of staff on its campus where we welcome approximately 950 students from over 60 nationalities, from 3 to 18 years of age.

Teacher of Learning Support 70 %


Permanent position from August 2020


The appointee will work collaboratively with the student support services team and classroom teachers in order to support students with a range of specific learning needs in meeting their academic potential.


Qualifications and Qualities desired



  • A recognized teaching qualification at graduate or postgraduate level

  • Ideally three years’ proven teaching success with three to eleven year old children

  • Knowledge of and a commitment to the educational philosophies of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is a strong asset

  • Ability to understand and interpret psychological and academic testing

  • Ability to create and accurately maintain Individual Educational Plans (IEP)

  • Experience working with a range of students of those below grade level to high potential learners

  • An understanding of specific cognitive, academic and physical challenges that can impact a students’ educational performance

  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate lessons which stimulate and motivate students to learn

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with the Student Support Services department/ coordinator to support students’ learning

  • Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural variance; a work experience in an international environment is a strong asset

  • Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism and a sense of humour

  • Ability to meet high expectations of students, colleagues and a professional parent community

  • Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy

  • Commitment to self-reflection and professional development

  • Full proficiency in English; any other language is a plus


Due to work permit limitations, preference will be given to candidates having a Swiss/ EU citizenship or holding a Swiss work permit.
