The overall purpose of this role is to play a crucial role in identifying and pursuing planning opportunities in the indirect tax space and partnering with the business to optimise the supply chains and the business structures from an indirect tax point of view. Flexing working options will be considered.
How you will do it
Planning: identify and assess indirect tax planning opportunities, as well as delivering the opportunities within the time frame by working together with the business and other departments
Business Unit partnering: build a trusted partnership with key business people in order to be able to work together to optimise the business structures from an indirect tax
Conduct a continuous VAT and Customs risks assessment and propose remediation plans to be taken forward with various departments
Act as a trusted business advisor in cooperation with the wider tax team members
Support the implementation of VAT and other indirect tax related projects
Assist the Global Indirect Tax Director on sensitive indirect tax controversy matters
Work with the Global Engagement Manager on request to ensure our indirect tax compliance is in line with the Company’s expectations
What we look for
Required
Strong VAT knowledge developed over a minimum of 6 years in the area of indirect taxes
VAT experience from private practice and or industry
The successful candidate will be a team player with a positive 'can do’ attitude but also be able to work autonomously
Ability to use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions for challenges and obstacles
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and related procedures
Good communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational and planning skills
Advanced oral and written English language skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Ability to work ethically and with full integrity when making time sensitive or difficult decisions
Preferred
Multi regional experience; EMEA with APAC and or LATAM
Both private practice and industry experience
Experience from a Big 4 consultancy
Tax or Accountancy professional qualification
Relevant academic degree in Finance or Tax with focus on Finance and or Accounting considered
ERP systems knowledge
Familiarity with Customs and preferably some corporate income tax knowledge
Ability to communicate in Mandarin
