Description

 
Role purpose

  • Develop and implement the global regulatory strategy for designated Active Ingredients and products to meet global business objectives and to ensure that regions and countries have access to a comprehensive regulatory package to gain and maintain national registrations in line with business needs.

  • Provide regulatory expertise, advice, leadership and advocacy skills to business partners (Product Managers, Technical Managers, Supply Chain Managers) for the allocated Syngenta portfolio to ensure that issues, challenges and opportunities are progressed and addressed in a timely manner. 


Accountabilities

  • Develop global regulatory strategies for designated Active Ingredients in support of business objectives considering the sustainability of existing and new uses. These strategies allow regions and countries to operate within globally agreed regulatory frameworks.

  • Provide global regulatory leadership for the substances of your assigned portfolio.

  • Prepare high quality regulatory documents and provide associated support and advice. This includes updated regulatory strategy documents, SynCRAS and issue documents for all designated active ingredients which serve as accurate, self-service framework for territory and country organizations.

  • Provide foresight, evaluation and thorough analysis of current regulatory issues and future threats critical to the assigned active ingredients.

  • Provide regulatory expertise, advice and advocacy skills to business partners (Product Managers, Technical Managers, Supply Chain Managers) for the allocated Syngenta portfolio to ensure that issues, challenges and opportunities are progressed and addressed in a timely manner.

  • Lead teams within Global Product Registration and Product Safety to ensure appropriate work plans are developed and implemented, and results are appropriately evaluated and integrated as required to support regulatory submissions and approvals worldwide.

  • Act as Project Manager for the Active Ingredient (AI) Maintenance projects. Plan and initiate AI studies deriving from data call-ins and new data requirements to ensure registerability of the AI in line with the business plan; lead the associated governance processes.

  • For designated active ingredients identify competitor products and track competitor databases, issues and development strategies, and use this knowledge to identify opportunities and promote optimal positioning of Syngenta products in the portfolio. 

  • Lead important projects independently, receives minimal guidance.

  • Together with MRL Lead in Regulatory Policy develop strategies for mitigating trade issues in case of ban/restrictions of assigned portfolio in other parts of the world

  • Work close to 3rd party management team regarding regulatory aspects and requirements for global and large regional licensing agreements

 

Qualifications

 
Experience required 

  • Detailed knowledge of worldwide product registration requirements and regulatory science issues with multi-year experience in the field

  • In-depth knowledge of product safety or chemistry discipline such as toxicology, ecotoxicology or e-fate, etc. is preferred.


Minimum education and critical knowledge required 

  • Degree in Science and preferably post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD)

  • Good understanding of agribusiness

  • Fluent in English and preferably having skills in other languages
