Job description AC Immune is seeking a highly qualified Senior Scientist to contribute to
the company’s efforts in research and development. The candidate must
possess scientific background in synthetic organic chemistry preferably in
neuroscience (Alzheimer’s Disease research) and a clear record of
accomplishment in a pharmaceutical setting with experience in drug
development. He/she must have demonstrated their ability to make
significant discoveries in medicinal chemistry. Promising opportunities for
growth and advancement exist.
Key Responsibilities Organize and optimize organic synthesis of small molecules



  • Identify and optimize hit and lead compounds (on-target/off-target
    properties, binding affinity/selectivity, PK/PD, etc.)

  • Manage and plan small molecule projects

  • Prepare, review and evaluate third part scientific study plans & reports

  • Present data on international scientific conferences

  • Summarize data for publishing in scientific peer-reviewed journals
    and/or patent applications


Qualifications & Skills The candidate should have the following qualifications:



  • Ph.D. training in synthetic organic chemistry

  • Minimum of two years of industrial experience in drug development
    preferably in the field of neuroscience

  • Experience in multistep organic synthesis

  • Excellent knowledge of standard analytical methods and purification
    methods such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.

  • Solid conceptual understanding of support functions, e.g. compound
    archiving, chemistry data base design, electronic data archiving

  • Advanced communication skills, verbal and written

  • Team player

  • Openness to interact with scientists of other disciplines, e.g. biologists
