Senior Acoustics Engineer


The main responsibilities of the candidate are



  • Provide acoustic design guidance during all stages of HED’s product conceptualization

  • Provide acoustics domain expertise to Engineering for both existing and new product developments

  • Develop models and use simulation tools to predict acoustic system behaviour

  • Define, build, and measure prototypes of acoustic systems

  • Evaluate the sound quality during these tests and optimize if necessary

  • Clearly communicate results through informal peer reviews as well as presenting at formal design reviews

  • Provide detailed reports with information such as frequency response, THD, maximum SPL, etc.

  • Work hands-on in the lab, as well as through technicians and engineers, to test, troubleshoot acoustic failures and recommend design changes to improve HED’s products

  • Specify, select, and qualify acoustical components (transducers: drivers, analog & digital microphones, etc) for HED’s products

  • Provide guidance to manufacturers for testing procedures and limits

  • Play a key role in ensuring the final design meets HED’s high quality audio standards


Skills and Experience



  • 5+ year experience in acoustics, noise and vibration required

  • Specialized skills in electro-mechanical-acoustical analogies

  • Specialized skills in acoustics design of cavities and small spaces

  • Specialized skills in passive and active sound insulation design and improvements

  • Good skills in acoustics finite element modelling (Comsol,…), especially for structural and airborne modal analysis

  • Good skills in audio signal processing (Matlab, Octave)

  • Strong experience with audio analyzers & testing equipment (Audio Precision, GRAS, Head and Torso Systems…)

  • Strong practical experience in the acoustics & audio industry

  • Experience in room acoustics, psycho-acoustics

  • Proven ability to design experiments and measurements protocols

  • Proven ability to provide buildable solutions and prototypes

  • Proven ability to publish scientific papers, patents, technical documentation

  • Good verbal and written communication in English mandatory

  • Knowledge of product management tools (Jira, Confluence,…) a plus


Education Years of relevant experience



  • Master degree in sound and vibration or a related degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

  • PhD in Acoustics-related area strongly preferred Personal attributes

  • Curious, sociable, dynamic and passionate about innovations

  • You must be a self-starter, motivated by challenges, dynamic, optimistic, visionary

  • Able to share knowledge and tasks across the multidisciplinary team in a high-tech
