About the team you are joining


The Special Cargo Team is managing the development of standard processes for the transport of live animals, perishables and pharmaceuticals products, in line with the other special cargo products such as the CEIV programs, to improve the overall efficiency of air cargo. This also includes the elaboration and the enhancement of these standards in accordance with the industry needs, the promotion of these standards as well as the management of the content of the respective IATA cargo publications and training.


What your day would be like


The Manager, Special Cargo will analyse, give guidance, direction and leadership to the development of the standards and products, and will assist on external communications, be the first point of contact for all queries from the industry related to special cargo and will have to interact with other IATA departments. As such, he/she will:
Manage the design, development and implementation of perishables standards in collaboration with the industry with a focus on quality procedures;
Assess the market to acquire and maintain good understanding of current and future trends and best practices in the field of perishable shipments;
Manage relationships with all relevant stakeholders in the industry to facilitate adoptions of the IATA standards and products;
Manage in close collaboration with the IATA products’ team the creation of new products as well as update/improve existing ones in line with industry needs (e.g. CEIV initiatives);
Manage on time the content of the IATA Perishable Cargo Regulations (PCR) as well as IATA training materials to ensure that new and enhanced standards are included;
Represent IATA at international industry meetings and conferences as required to ensure IATA standards and products are known, considered and adopted by the different stakeholders of the industry;
Support the promotion of IATA cargo standards and products in the industry through events, websites and any marketing materials;
Support the content management of the other cargo publications (Live Animals Regulation and Temperature Control Regulations);
Manage the special cargo website content to ensure accurate and timely communications with industry stakeholders;
Interact with the IATA Strategic Partners Program, IATA Training and Development Institute as well as the Communication and event teams;
Support the overall administration and coordination of the industry standardization groups (e.g. LAPB and TTWG);
Provide effective first level helpdesk support for industry queries received through the “Larper” mailbox;
Additional tasks as assigned by the Head, Special Cargo.


We would love to hear from you if you meet the following criteria


University degree preferably with a business/engineering focus or any other relevant discipline;
Strong knowledge in the transport and handling of temperature-controlled products especially of perishable products;
Professional qualification in standard setting activities and product development related to supply chain would be an asset;
Minimum 5 years experience in supply chain business process, standards setting, with a focus on quality, operations or policy, preferably in the environment of perishable products;
Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to lead and interact effectively and globally at multiple levels;
Leadership experience in a high-pressure, multicultural and international environment, while able to embrace innovation and change;
Networking and team- oriented skills with strong personal integrity;
Flexible, adaptable and available to travel;
Ability to manage detail without losing sight of strategy, with a results driven focus;
Excellent PC skills particularly with MS Office programs;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, additional languages would be an asset.
