Job Description


The Human Health Digital Accelerator supports the implementation and realization of Digital Transformation through a flexible team to capitalize on deep subject matter expertise through collaboration with global markets, franchises, Information Technology (IT) and other enabling functions. The Director of Advanced Analytics Realization will report to the Executive Director, Advanced Analytics in the Digital Accelerator.


This role will lead the global installation and evolution of advanced analytics applications, tools, and processes to facilitate embedding highly efficient and effective advanced analytics capabilities into international markets to support marketing and promotion investment decisions. The role will coordinate closely with the Advanced Analytics Leads in the prioritized markets, with colleagues in the Digital Accelerator (e.g., the Lead, Digital Data Innovation, the Lead, Advanced Analytics Solutions, and with the Lead, Marketing Technology), with external services/solutions providers, and with global and local IT colleagues to influence and make progress on the roadmap for Advanced Analytics Realization. More specifically, the Director of Advanced Analytics Realization will:



  • Be a key contributor on enterprise and divisional initiatives towards modernizing our data and analytics operating model to address current pain points for professional staff working along the data and analytics lifecycle.

  • Focus on enabling productization of repeatable processes (e.g., “models as software”), laying a foundation in our company to enable new ways of working, helping the enterprise adapt to the changing Artificial Intelligence (AI) landscape, and fostering collaborative learning/continuous improvement of best-practices in advanced analytics in the commercial space.

  • Be an integral part of cross-functional efforts aimed at achieving productivity improvements and driving consistency in advanced analytics processes executed by global data scientists in various markets by facilitating adoption of these productized processes. Examples of these processes include customer segmentation, promotion response modeling, marketing mix optimization, channel/content affinity prediction, test/control analytics, and sales force size and structure analytics.

  • Gain a deep understanding of needs for advanced analytics realization and translate these into business requirements for minimum viable products to introduce, enhance and/or replace existing solutions to facilitate efficient execution of advanced analytics capabilities across the globe. This will be achieved through collaboration with Advanced Analytics Leads in various markets, with the Data Science Team in our IT Technical Centers in Singapore and Prague, with enterprise and divisional IT leadership around data and analytics capabilities/investments, and with external analytical service providers.

  • Propose and gain ratification from local analytics leads in prioritized markets to move forward with installation of specific solutions by leading from a global business perspective:

    • adaptation of existing solutions developed at a market level to scale these for use by other markets,

    • adaptation of and/or creation of solutions by IT Technical Centers Data Science and other teams by bringing business context and facilitating iterative development informed by test-and-learn applications in prioritized markets, and

    • installation of solutions developed by outside service providers to achieve the objectives outlined above.




  • Collaborate with the Leads of Digital Data Innovation and Advanced Analytics solutions in the Digital Accelerator to ensure that:

    • global taxonomies for media tagging and content coding are influenced by the unique needs dictated by advanced analytics realization, and that

    • any synergies that can be gained as a result of common requirements for minimum viable products for customer engagement reporting and for advanced analytics tools are realized.




  • Collaborate with market-based data scientists and Advanced Analytics Leads to populate a Knowledge Center which documents use cases in commercial advanced analytics. The aim of this work will be to capture and share best practices of using data in our company’s Customer Information Management platform and Data Integration Layer, and of using advanced analytics, including the repeatable processes, to deliver empirically-derived decision support.


Qualifications:



  • Education:

    • Required: Master’s degree or international equivalent from an accredited university in a field related to quantitative business analytics

    • Preferred: Ph.D. degree in a field related to quantitative business analytics (not required)




  • Required Experience and Skills:

    • 10+ years of experience in commercial analytics with demonstrated leadership in providing and pulling through empirically-based decision support results

    • Able to effectively and efficiently manage change and influence an organization to adapt a risk management approach over the analytics lifecycle in terms of ways of working, organizational transformation and strategy, technology use and skillset building

    • Deep understanding of best practices related to supporting business decisions in a commercial marketing organization using data and analytics across the continuum of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.

    • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques to support commercialization operations, including customer engagement journey personalization/orchestration

    • Experience shaping state-of-the-art cloud analytics systems, working closely with IT to do so and grounded in a deep understanding of the role of IT in implementing end-to-end analytics processes.

    • Working knowledge of modern analytics platforms, tools and accelerators such as Datorama, data robot, veeva nitro, SF interaction studio, SF journey builder, Google optimize, Google Analytics Ml flow, Databricks, Algorithmia, etc.

    • Due diligence and grasp over the commoditized AI space to help enable markets to progress along the advanced analytics maturity such as h2o.ai, AWS comprehend, etc.

    • Strong project management skills

    • Ability to build highly effective cross-functional and/or cross-market partnerships and collaborative teams

    • Consulting experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders and building consensus

    • Keen business acumen to enable understanding of business stakeholder needs

    • Intellectual curiosity and ability to identify innovative approaches to meeting advanced analytics needs

    • Excellent presentation, analytics and communication skills, both written and oral, are required to synthesize key issues and communicate/persuade constituencies towards specific actions and initiatives




  • Preferred Experience and Skills:

    • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry in more than one of the following countries:US, Japan, China, France, UK, Germany

    • Experience with digitally advanced marketing companies/industries outside of the pharmaceutical industry

    • Hands on experience producing, delivering and/or overseeing decision support functions using commercial analytics techniques such as promotion response modeling, marketing mix optimization, targeting and segmentation, promotion planning, etc.

    • Foundational and hands-on knowledge of artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques (e.g., convolutional neural networks, genetic algorithm, deep collaborative filtering, reinforcement learning, NLP, semi-supervised machine learning and federated machine learning, etc.)
