Job Description

Job purpose:



Drive cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives across R&D to support decision-making.

Provide direction, alignment, integration and co-ordination of R&D strategy with other business areas and projects that share a common objective.

Ensuring effective tracking, reporting and control.



Major accountabilities:



• Drive cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives; establish and apply a PMO process to designated projects:

• Define / agree project metrics and KPIs (to monitor cost, time, resource and risk)

• Take steps to ensure effective and timely project delivery.

• Effectively document, administer, track and report project set-up, progress and closure ensuring the right information (progress, risks/issues, deliverables etc.) passes to and from key stakeholders, governance teams and sponsors

• Manage all aspects of project tracking, RAID management, and monitor completed work, milestones achieved, remaining work and key dependencies, supporting the project team to deliver

• Ensure project costs are closely monitored and benefits realisation tracked such that deviations and performance issues are reported, escalated and resolved

• Ensure that sufficient controls are in place to manage / assess impact of key risks and issues (and that mitigating actions are understood)

• Actively drive creation of high quality strategy documents.

• Support management of annual cycle of core processes and governance including strat plan, budget, etc.

• Support business operations and functional activities (e.g. leadership meetings, incl. agenda, pre-reads, minutes, action plans and follow ups)

• Support / coordinate accurate budget reporting to finance. Works with the relevant internal stakeholders (i.e. R&D Leadership team) to prepare and follow up accurate budget (HC, costs, etc)

• Bring cross-functional view to project initiation and business case building

• Develop and implement strategic internal communications plan to help achieve R&D strategy through informed, aligned and engaged employees.

• Create appropriate channels for strengthening communications and share feedback. Work with R&D Head and senior management to develop and communicate appropriate messaging.

Minimum requirements

Education:



- PhD in Life Sciences of related discipline or MBA plus extensive healthcare experience

- MBA or relevant business experience desirable

- Project management qualification (PMP/APMP/Prince2/P30 or equivalent) desirable



Experience:



- 4+ years of experience in healthcare discipline, consulting or company project management / planning

- Deep understanding of science and medical content of healthcare, ideally Oncology disease areas



Skills:



- Strong project management skills (also cross-functional) with significant business impact

- Excellent analytical skill and business acumen, process-oriented and data driven mindset. Proven ability to “see beyond the numbers” and provide insights leadership and team working skills

- Strong communication skills (written and oral, power point mastering)

- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrixed company

- Capable of being able to influence without authority

- Effective in prioritising, shows the appropriate sense of urgency around given tasks and driven to grow a business

- Work or project experience in two or more geographies: cross-cultural experience is an asset

- Able to travel
