R&D Mechanical Engineer specialised in Flexible Technologies

In 2014, H.Glass received the prestigious Watt d’Or award in the category “Renewable Energies” by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.


The position is based in Lausanne – EPFL Innovation Park.


We are currently developing an ambitious product and looking for a R&D Mechanical Engineer specialised in Flexible Technologies


YOUR MISSION



  • Figuring out suitability of new fabrication processes

  • Assessing, modelling, and crafting technologies for use in H. Glass products

  • Assessing the mechanical, electrical and stability performance of solar cell technologies developed by H. Glass.

  • Novel materials development for solar cell

  • Solar cell prototype fabrications

  • Work with suppliers to characterize and improve solar cell mechanical performance.

  • Assess key metrics in pilot-level and mass-produced products, including reliability.

  • Developing H.glass intellectual property in areas of design and implementation through patent activity.


YOUR PROFILE



  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely allied field

  • At least 3 years of experience in an industrial environment

  • Experience in crafting, fabricating, and evaluating flexible electronic devices, flexible electronic components, interconnects, or related issues in packaging is desirable

  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanics of materials, viscoelasticity, and thin films on flexible substrates

  • Interconnects, and experience in identifying, modelling, and solving failure mechanisms.

  • Sound knowledge of polymeric materials

  • The ability to access state of the art simulation and/or analytical tools to identify and solve root causes of failure is critical

  • An accomplished mechanical engineer with a track record of successful development of electronic products developing novel materials and mechanical designs

  • Real-world success in developing products is desirable

  • Experience with issues involved in transitioning laboratory technology to manufacturing.

  • Proven ability to work with and coordinate internal design, manufacturing, and reliability teams, and with external suppliers and vendors is desirable

  • Experience in crafting and/or fabricating a variety of solar cells components, including ETL, HTL and active layer sealing/encapsulation and interconnection technologies is an asset.

  • Fluent in English MANDATORY
