What you'll do

As Project Leader, you occupy an important position executing and supporting client service engagements in a variety of roles. You are responsible for delivering a specific piece of work as an individual contributor. A Project Leader may also play an advisory role on projects helping either to establish BCG's credibility or ramp the team up at the start of a particular piece of work, or provide regular support throughout the project. At the more senior levels individuals become increasingly involved in business development activities and increase the amount of time dedicated to development expertise.

The responsibilities of this role fall broadly into two areas:

Client Delivery (focus area)

  • You work embedded into high impact client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site

  • You ensure the quality of the work, and the relevance of the synthesis and recommendations

  • You present key findings to C-level executives

  • You development proposals from end to end around specific topics and participation in client proposals presentations

  • You contribute to the development of additional business beyond the delivery of recommendations on client engagements

  • You educate and inform clients proactively about state of the art technologies, methodologies and tools and how it can bring value to their business

Topic and Practice Development

  • You contribute to the improvement of methodology, tools, enablement material and topic development on areas of expertise

  • You develop and contribute to BCG's intellectual capital - working on BCG knowledge content projects to develop new techniques and/or capture new ideas as well as casework experience

  • You contribute to BCG's Practice Area publications

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

Your Qualifications


You're good at

  • You have experience in delivering enterprise-level IT and Digital projects, and at de-risking and prioritizing solutions in a move from legacy to digital architectures

  • You have a good business sense

  • You have solid people management skills, demonstrated on the ground while executing IT and/or digital transformations

  • You have excellent communication skills

  • You are able to build empathy within the firm and win the trust of the clients

  • You are able to work creatively and analytically in a time-limited, problem-solving environment

  • You are a real team player and you will be open to collaboration with other BCG offices and contribute to the dynamic of the Technology Advantage Practice globally

  • You have intercultural competence and experience of working in more than one country and/or multi-cultural teams

  • You are fluent in the respective local language and English, other languages would be of added benefit


You bring (Experience & Qualifications)

We’re looking for exceptional talent from consulting or industry to join us. You would typically:



  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the operational delivery of technology/IT/digital transformations and/or in leading service companies (software development, IT project management). This experience will ideally be gained while working as an IT leader of a delivery center unit, IT architect or project manager

  • Have an undisputed track record in leading IT related teams

  • Have a solid technical expertise and managerial experience in the field of Technology and in particular having led platforms, smaller delivery center units or delivered digital transformations

  • In addition, you will ideally have developed solid problem solving capabilities

  • Be analytical and structured and able to interface with consultant teams

  • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards

  • In any case, you have the obligation to disclose, prior to any agreement with BCG any non-compete clause or any other obligations with respect to your previous employers or clients, preventing you from working at BCG

  • Have an advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Business Administration (other advanced degrees are accepted as well, e.g. Law, Mathematics, Physics) from a renowned University

  • Have strong academics from top-tier institutions

Our consultants within DigitalBCG are an integral part of BCG's core consulting team; we work side-by-side with all practice areas to create value & competitive advantage for our clients. Your team will include senior BCG leadership, teams of BCG Consultants, and both junior and senior client leaders working collaboratively to drive the transformation, and shared services/control functions.

Expertise is of vital importance to BCG and our clients and the ECT is a core pillar of BCG’s strategy. Our clients expect BCG to help tailor solutions to their specific needs, and increasingly expect us to bring deep industry and functional expertise to the table. Our continued investments in knowledge and expertise have been a critically important driver of our success. The growth and development of the ECT cohort is a core component of these investments. The track enables individuals to bring significant value to BCG with relevant operational or technical experience in specific fields, usually gained outside of BCG either in industry, academia or specialised consulting. It also provides expert consultants opportunities to apply and expand their knowledge and experience across markets and functions. A tailored onboarding program supported by relevant leading consultants will enable a successful start at BCG.
